I did a search for this and didn't come up with anything, so I figured I'd go ahead and start a thread for it.

Post a pic of the first car you had. It doesn't necessarily have to be YOUR car, just a pic of the car you drove when you first got your license.

I got my license in June, 2000 and my Mom let me drive her car at the time - a 1986 Dodge Aries K. An ugly car, that's for sure, but it got me where I wanted to go for about a month when it just died on me all of a sudden after getting gas. (Gas was only about $1.05 a gallon at the time, so that didn't bother me TOO much.) IIRC, it was the timing belt that died on me. We never did get it fixed. Instead, my Dad gave me his car at the time because he didn't really need it, since he was driving his girlfriend's car most of the time.

The Aries was a base model with vinyl interior and pretty much no options. It was in our family for years. I believe my grandparents got it new, then my aunt got it, then my Mom, then Me. Even though I only had it a month, I definitely recall some fond memories. Here's the only pic I have of it on my computer. (with the exception of one exactly like this one with Me standing in front of it, obscuring the view of the car)

There is already a car thread, but I suppose a first car thread is a nice idea.

Anyway...

I was very lucky to have been able to afford a new car for my first car (been working since 16). I got a new Mini Cooper, it was one of the first on the road and I loved it!

There seems to be a lot of car nuts on this forum. I think it'd be cool to have a separate car forum, myself. That way, the other car threads wouldn't go off-topic as much. Not a mod, though, so I'll leave that one up to the mods.

That's a nice MINI. Looks great. My Mom loves those cars. She freaks out when she sees 'em and she's not even that into cars. :p

I really like 'em, too.

My first car was a 1976 MKI Vauxhall Cavalier. Was 14 years old when I bought it for about £250.

Oh and the picture is not of my old car but the only one I could find in good old Google. Mine was a lovely yellow.

Oh dear.....mine was a red Datsun Cherry and it was dreadful. Was written off in an accident three weeks after buying it by a lady in a car park who thought that the pedals of her car were more important to look at than any traffic that may be in front of her.

Here it is: A 1981 Chevy Malibu. Not the muscle car, mind you, but the granny sedan version.

Aside from a 1961 Comet I drove for a few months and then sold back to the original owner, this was my first car and the only one I've ever owned.

After I moved abroad and it sat in the garage of my uncle's house for longer than he liked, my parents said they sold it to a guy who was interested in restoring old cars. They were cagey about the details, which leads me to believe they had it hauled it to a scrapyard and just didn't want to tell me.

showing my age here...

My first car was over 30 years ago , but here's a photo I found...

I seem to recall that it was the same model that Basil Fawlty so memorably thrashed..... (and with damn good reason, too - they were crap!). Mine was three-tone light blue, dark blue and rust... :p

Ford Carpi MkIII Cameo

My very first car and the one I learnt to drive in. A 1982 Ford Capri 1600 'Cameo' (very basic version of the capri).

The boot latch didnt secure, the window wouldnt always close, and she was a bugher to start in the wet. I loved this car tho, and since have owned 4 more capris.

They will always have a place in my heart and still look secy to this day. (shame on ford for not keeping the Capri name going :( )

Here is the very first picture I took of my car, my 2000 Toyota Camry LE. Got it with 32k on the odo in 2006, and it now has close to 70k. My grandma got the car in 2000 fully loaded with leather seats, sunroof, alloy wheels, power everything, and the two tone paint. It's been a good car, plan on keeping it for a very long time.

I don't have any photos of mine, but thus:

Everyone says they're rotten little cars but I haven't had a lick of trouble with it and it's great on gas. Little 4-cyl gets me around nicely.. Mine's got the hood protector and window shades too.

Took me awhile to find it. This was actually my brother's car. He blew the motor, so my dad put a new V6 in it with a Holley 4 barrel carburetor and Offenhauser intake which caused us to not be able to shut the hood! Ended up with a '84 mustang black hoodscoop on it and black louvers on the rear glass. Guess I'm showing my age here huh? Man, I miss that car.

just a pic of the car you drove when you first got your license.
Hmmm well that would be the car my driving instructor had, a 2000-something Civic coupe, bright red. (not my photo)

:) My first/only care I've owned, a "sage" '98 LE with the 4L engine and 120k miles  (10k of those being mine). What can I say though, it's in such better shape than other used ones I looked at with half the miles. I get 26-28 MPG with my work commute, which isn't bad.

Pic from when I first got it a few years ago.

1976 Ford Elite. I bought it in the summer of 86. That thing was gigantic, but it sure could get up and go. BTW, the pic is from a Google search. Mine was white and had horrifically ugly rims. :D

I am 17. My first car was a 1998 Land Rover Discovery LSE 4.0 V8.

P1010027.jpg

I loved that car to death. Unfortunately a deer jumped out in front of me and that was the end of it.

Now I have a 2000 Discovery Series II that I love, but it'll never fill the void in my heart. My first Rover will always be the most special car I'll ever own.

Those are really nice. I want one and thinking about getting one. What is the MPG on them??? I am missing my old 4x4....

63 Plymouth Valiant w. slant 6 motor, AM radio and push button automatic trans. Seat belts not included.:D A dollar bought three gallons of gas & I could go for 1/2 a week.

Pic of one just like it since mine died about 34 years ago. Just rusted apart but motor ran strong all the way to the boneyard. I could see the road through the floor as I drove.:p
