1959 Ford Galaxie 500
Bought it when I was 14. I lived in rural Wyoming, USA at the time, so most of us kids got our "hardship" driving permits at that age.

My first car was a 1967 Mercury Cougar. Not this one though.I don't have any pictures of it. It was light blue with a black vinyl roof. It had a 289 and automatic transmission. It was a fun car to drive. I would love to get another one some day.

With no family car to learn on, I had to wait to start my working life to take driving lessons, then buy a car.

I bought this one, in dark green, in 1959, for $500, a fair amount of change for me then.

For the first year and a half after I got my license I had to share my moms Chevrolet Blazer:

Then in 2007 I finally got my own car, a Chevrolet Cobalt:

2004 Smart Roadster:

Great car, has a 0.7L petrol engine with turbocharger, full heated leather interior, electric folding soft top and I've added proper iPod connectivity to it too.

Here is a picture of the three cylinder engine that gives me between 40 and 50mpg consistently:

A Smart roadster. We only get the ForTwo here. Hmphh...

First I had the bug but had problems with the manual transmission so traded it for thr automatic Mustang. Below are not my actual cars as I never took pictures of them.

Dodge 400 convertible. This isn't mine though. Mine was a deep chocolate brown. I loved that car, but I totalled it in the mid nineties.

Here we are, 1995 Toyota Corolla... still going strong (though it burns oil), just turned over 230,000 miles tonight. Below is a picture of the car as of a few minutes ago (sorry, low light pic) and it's odometer, so you believe me.

It has more room and luxury?

But as a first car? Yeah, I guess I jumped to the conclusion that alphaod is of typical "first car" age (late teens to early 20s). Assuming this is true, why would someone of that age need all of that room at the expense of handling ability, respect from other drivers and most importantly, fuel economy?

This is making my especially curious because alphaod said he lives in a city.
