Best kept secret/job in retail, and I've done a lot of retail jobs. M-F, 4a/5a-12:30p/1:30p, a lot of paid holidays that normal retail employees don't get, travel time and paid milage, bonuses if district does well (THD is doing extremely well in this economic climate). Normally, I'm off by 11 on Friday's. Very flexible, always different, physical, extremely hard to get onto, and I love it. My hours are so good my RN wife is jealous. Love you babe!

I've learned more about home improvement in the past 2 years working at The Home Depot than I have in my entire life. As a result, I've spent a lot of money doing personal home projects too, much to the approval of my wife. ;)

It's also amazing how many college graduates I work with (myself included). You simply can't go into a retail store and assume the non-management employees don't have an education these days; a lot of them do. Darn crappy economy.

Leadhand Pressman running 40" Komori 6 color plus aqueous coater. 16,000 sheets an hour. Sheet size 40" x 28". Been running since the day company purchased. 38 years in printing industry. Average day 140,000 sheets of paper. How fast is your printer?

We have the 10col version of that press, we also have a Komori 6Col but older then that one, a Heidelberg speedmaster 10col perfect, a Heidelberg 6 col and a KBA large format press. I work in the prepress dept btw :)

Sounds like you guys are a fair size. We are currently in the looks for a 4C with perfector 40" to compliment our 6C. I have worked on an 8C Speedmaster Perfector. Biggest format press I worked on was a Harris 4C 77". 10C's do not do well here in Alberta. We had 2 of them in Edmonton but both companies went bankrupt in short order. The demand for them is non existent here. Hard to keep them busy. I have been a pressman for 38 years and have run pretty much anything out on the market. Started in web but went to sheetfed after 11 years of it. Been there ever since. Have been running Komori for some time now. Last 3 presses were all brand new. Very lucky in that most pressmen never get to see a new press. We do mostly trade work for other printers. Things like telephone book covers for TransContinental who is largest printer in world. Quebecor and many small format printers locally. I get to retire in 7 years and am really looking forward to getting out of the stress.

Yeah i am in Australia and we are one of the bigger printers out here and we specialize in POS, i could not be a pressman, too much BS to put up with. Prepress is still hard but less stressful.

Just a quarter of it. Security low voltage tech for a hospital. Other main systems is CCure with 1000+ doors and 500 other inputs, check-in software with about 2000 visitors a day and 2 other reporting sql databases.. and that's not all of it. And there's just 1 1/2 of us if you count the poor old lady that is job has already driven insane. It's not bad most days.

2nd year structural drafting apprentice :) love my job, I mainly use autocad right now but will be learning to use revit gradually since that seems like the future and most clients seem to want to see models of the buildings these days.

Since I haven't used the program much, to me it sucks and seems too "complicated" and not user friendly. Although everyone seems to think that until they get to know the program more.
