I know what you're saying...

The alternative though was either a loose visible brake cable or the brake cable holders (chrome) which were nasty looking, imo. At least this brings color and I can give hot chicks "pumps" without hurting their umm...pride, haha jk.

What is eww about it? Just curious....

I have also added the DECO seat that is pictured and some black bar ends--it had a white seat and chrome bar ends, barf.

The fact that it's a fixie. Why don't you like running a geared setup? Too expensive? Too complicated to upkeep (ie too many things that could fail)? Except for Sheldon Brown; he had a bunch of fixies and he could make fixies seem cool (RIP Sheldon :()

I just don't like fixies. Nice looking bike, but I associate fixies with hipsters, soo... But since you said you have a 7.3FX, it kinda puts it into perspective. I ride a hybrid. Got some barends from performance bike, wrapped them with bartape, got clipless pedals, changed the saddle, flipped the stem, chopped off about 4 inches from the handlebars, added a rack (for commuting) to make it my own and fit me better.

But anyway, my last purchase was white cable housing for my hybrid bike. Looks nice!

Here's a picture of my bike. I haven't gotten a chance to take an up-to-date picture of it with the white cables.

Oh, and I also just bought a new battery for this:

I used to have a 7.3FX.....until it was stolen right out of my parking garage. I used the Sheldon Brown Lock Strategy, so the only possible way for them to steal it was to cut my Kryptonite lock or to actually take the bolted-to-the-concrete iron bike rack that it was locked to. And that's what they did. They took the whole rack and my bike.....but took the time to cut the lock for a crappy bike that was also locked to that rack, and left that bike behind.:rolleyes:

I loved that bike, but I ended up replacing it with a Gary Fisher Monona, which is pretty similar but has a few upgraded parts. It's a great bike too.

My latest purchase:

for iPad. I'm stoked to play it tonight while the wife watches DWTS.

Went to a midnight release and picked it up...

Yup, the now pain in the butt to get Hardened edition that is selling for 2X on Ebay. People will gouge for any reason. May post a pic of the insides later.

You sir, have a very nice bike there.

Well--here's kind of how it happened...
My dad gave me his fx, because he could no longer ride it due to medical issues. This was my jumpstart into fitness and back into bikes after having been out for many years. I enjoyed riding it but it didn't feel like "me". I don't enjoy having gears and also wished it was more a trail bike than the hybrid/fitness bike that it is.

So...I started toying with the idea of a single speed mountain bike. It appealed to me because although I'm mechanically inclined (somewhat) I don't have near the tools needed to do some of the maintenance and the closest bike shop is an hour away (by car). Was looking at many, but most that I liked were $800+ and the wife said no. I started thinking also, that I rarely ride the trails and they usually aren't too difficult, so why do I need a mtnbike capable of so much? I still liked the single speed aspect so I started looking around.

Did NOT like the premade rainbow fixies (as I like to call them)

that were really expensive for what they were (hi-ten, low grade parts). So I kept looking, and came across the Urbis. It is kind of a cross, almost fits into the bmx category which I used to ride but is sized more for me and also is very "clean" looking. I loved the fact that it had a disc brake and was chromoly. And when I found out I could get this one at almost half the cost, I went for it. Have only put about $40 bucks into it making it "mine".

The wife now rides the fx on the weekends with me. I ride in and around my neighborhood and surrounding areas, every day. I don't ride with a "group", I don't have cyclist friends and I just ride for me. No one even sees me ride except old people on their porch or kids playing outside.

It's set up ss right now, because I'm still learning to feel confident on it like I did on the fx. I have tried the fixie thing and want to try again, but just for me, not for anyone else. And yes, Sheldon Brown was amazing.

I just laughed out loud after reading this. Everyone has their own opinions, but to associate a whole community of cyclers because it is a fixie is just...hilarious.

With that being said, I ride a fixie. I use it as my commuter (25 miles a day) and I love it. My geared bike sits at home in the corner. I purchased it not because a geared bike is too expensive (getting my road bike in March) or it is too complicated - the reason I have it is it is simple. There is no gear changes or anything. You get on the bike and just ride. The bike is incredibly light and I can move in and out of traffic in NYC without having to worry about what gear I'm in or such.

As for your bike, nice piece. I do have a greater respect for others that commute by bike.

Had to buy a few things I have been meaning to pick up.
Timbuk2 3way accessory holder - got this for my bag to hold my iPod or iphone on the go

Timbuk2 velcro silencers - desperately needed for my messenger. Have to carry a bunch of books to work everyday now

SGP EX antifingerprint - bought mostly for the back protectors

Samford guide for antimicrobial therapy - I hate this book, but alas it's the best. I have to practice reading it. Got the 2011 version though.

Harriet Lane - Pediatrics reference for work

Well here's irony of sorts for you...

Went to play CoD last night, long story short, CANNOT open the door of the XBox. It's been a recurring problem, but of course last night, could not open the door to put in CoD. Can't even open it manually.

So, I found myself back at Best Buy, using a store credit that I'd been saving to get an iPhone 4S.

So, after a new XBox with 2X the storage, an extra 3 months of Live, copies of Fable & Halo Reach ( that I don't want ), a transfer cable, and 2 year coverage, I guess I won't be getting an iPhone 4s. Ah well, least I can play MW3 finally!

I have the same iPod and it's still going strong. It's my favorite design from that line. I too bought a replacement battery, but I had trouble opening the iPod itself, so I never got around to using it. Any tips on how to get it open without messing up the sides? I have one of those plastic spudgers for electronics, but no luck.

Put my deposit down. Pick her up on 11/11/11 :D
