Bought the Pro 600 that was $187 on Amazon today. Not sure if I'll keep it, gift it, or return it.

Even though I cook often, I'm not much into baking. On the other hand, maybe this mixer will make baking seem more enticing to me. Then again, I am broke. Decisions, decisions.

I wasn't really into baking when I got mine last year. It was $259 and the colors were also limited; I got it as a gift though. From the moment I got it I noticed I do use it frequently. I've made a ton of baked goods as you probably know from twitter and at Thanksgiving it was simple enough to toss in the potatoes and mash them on up while I finished cutting the turkey. I've done a few other things in there like make sauces and such and mine has that pour spout thing that sits collecting dust to be honest. What I do use it for as well is ice cream. Of course you need the $60 bowl but it does a fine job. I make homemade ice cream frequently and did that as well the eve of Thanksgiving for a dessert I made. I would think that if you started poking around the web you could see the added benefit of it and all of the attachments. Since you're big on cooking you should look at both the pasta and meat grinder attachment.

I love the silly thing and I am so glad the pro 600 was on sale. I can't see using the 4.5 quart bowl even though they have the best colors. That is one hell of a deal and I thought about getting my mom one even though she has the 4.5 quart already. The biggest thing about the larger ones is that if you want to make bread you'll have a better chance of making it better in the pro 600. It says it holds a certain amount of flour, knock off about 2-3 cups from that because it's a bit more realistic.

I just grabbed tether from the app store and downloaded it. Hopefully it works so I don't have to get a refund for it. I knew another one would squeeze through eventually. Glad I stuck with my unlimited data plan now.

Got it working and tested the speed. I'm uber impressed.

Card Wallet from Amazon $6.99 delivered. I'm very light on what I carry, love this thing.

Christ, some of those attachments are crazy expensive.

Thanks for the post, jess. I've definitely run into recipes I'd love to make but didn't have the equipment to make it not a PITA to do so. Bread would definitely be nice to play around with, and I know the mixers are extreme time savers with that, although it also seems to be when they usually break, heh. There was a lot of ruckus on slick deals about the reviews, but 4.5 stars out of 1250 reviews seems pretty good. All kitchen appliances have reviews of failures.

I don't have a big sweet tooth, but my other half does, particularly for ice cream. That attachment is 75 bucks right now though, ouch! Your stuff you post always looks great! Maybe I can get a hold of my Italian grandmother's recipe for biscotti. That would be very special... I hope she can remember it accurately. I was a little kid still the last time she was healthy enough to make it.

Pizza dough is another one I'd be interested in fooling with... IF I can justify the time and effort over the tasty cheap dough at Trader Joe's and the local Italian pizza joint. Mashed potatoes I love, too, although it's not like one needs one of these babies to make 'em. But I like the shiny!

Sorry for the thinking-out-loud rambling.

I picked this up last night too. I'll hardly ever use it, but I wanted the option to do it if the situation arose and I was certain Apple would pull it. Really glad I got it! :D

For a machine that is normally upwards of $350 +, I would not return it and would likely keep it. As for the ice cream attachment, yes, it's pricey. You can usually watch Bed, Bath & Beyond then use their 20% off coupon. They had one that was $80 on sale then 20% off and then a wink and a smile at the cashier and he let me use the $5.00 off coupon I had. I walked out paying about $64.00. It's not much off of where Amazon would be but I got it that day and since these things contain a liquid that can leak if you mis-treat the bowl (they will crack) I figured it'd be nice.

That said, also consider the cost of good ice cream. I use an egg-less recipe base. This is based on this one brand of ice cream that fetches $9.00 per pint ! Having this thing actually saves me money in the long run. Plus, making it myself knowing it takes my time means I won't pound a 1/2 pint in one sitting. :D Anyway, it's just a machine that is spectacular. I'm oddly surprised how much I love it myself.

And my attempt to stay on topic ... I bought this:

Gift for someone who likes white wine. You freeze the "corkcicle" and insert it into the bottle, it chills the wine without the need of an ice bucket and such. It's silly but neat.

I'm really glad I got it now too. I figured they'd pull it so I didn't hesitate. I probably won't use it much but since I have unlimited it'll only take one usage to pay for itself while I'm waiting in an airport or in the car.

I've had to stock up running low on food for the Hillstream Loach and water treatment + needed to replace the Filter pads and Biomax for the filter.

Why are you replacing the biomax? Usually if the flow is hindered rinse them off in dechlorinated tank water to get some of the grit out. Careful when you change out any biofilter as your tank might go through a mini cycle because you are replacing the good bacteria in your tank. Same with the filter pads b/c they contain a lot of good bacteria.

You should already be able to guess that I am going to recommend New Zealand :D

Its seriously my most favorite place ever. I day dream about living there and working for Weta Digital.

Its a great place aye. Moved here 2 years ago from the UK, lots of reasons why, but totally love it! So much more chilled out than back in the UK.

UE TripleFi 10's off of the Amazon deal. Been so long since I got rid of my Shure E5c's so it's good to finally have another pair of nice IEM's. Might get a custom refit so we'll see.

Got the app with my saved up itunes credit too.. Speed is super fast even on verizon, and so easy to use. The app has been officially pulled, but it still works for me.

it should keep working since they offer the app on android and blackberry as well. as long as they don't shut down all together it should keep going. I'm impressed with out easy it is to use. Just plug in the cords and open the apps and go. You can't use your phone for anything else though. It seems that mine doesn't like texting while sharing the connection. Small price to pay though.
