With YOUR hard earned money....

I don't think this thread is considering fiscal responsibility, so, you know. ;)

My purchases:

Because I'm starting to really enjoy hockey, I'm really thinking about signing up for an adult beginner hockey class, because I want to try playing it, and my family never really had the money for me to join a team when I was growing up in the UK (plus there's not much around here in terms of recreational full contact football it seems).

Tickets to the Pens vs Islanders game (yeah, I'd rather go to a Rangers game, but these tickets were loads cheaper and Nassau Coliseum is a 15 minute drive away)

Renting one of these for the weekend:

I just got that game too. On PS3 it freezes some times and its annoying when you swing the puck out to the D in the offensive zone they shoot it 99% of the time instead of just moving the puck around. Looking to join an adult beginner league too. Got some used inline skates to practice and build up my skating muscles.

None of my business really but I recall you saying you are in College with no job...how do you buy all this?

*Graduated from college with no job. But yeah, still looking. I'm currently in talks with a local ad agency for an associate account exec position; but I've gotten close a few times before and, well, yeah... I'm still here. So I'm not getting my hopes up.

As for affording this. I worked three jobs in college to get by. But during my last semester, I could save up for the slums. I saved up a fair amount of cash. That, plus graduation money got me by. And then I just keep an eye out for easy money here and there. Example. I bought a Kinect Holiday Bundle for $199 w/ a free $50 Amazon card. Sold it for $250, and kept the gift card. $100 in my pocket for less than 30 minutes of work.

Don't get me wrong; I'd MUUUUUCH prefer a real job with a real salary. But with a lot of free time, I find ways here and there to make some cash.

And I live with my mom. :p

But, fwiw, I think a lot of people assume unemployment benefits or something. Ha! One, I don't qualify as I only worked part-time jobs; and two, I don't believe in taking hand outs, anyway. My mom helps me out by giving me a room and a full fridge... and I'm very thankful. But other than that, I prefer to earn things myself. So, no worries; your taxes aren't paying for my toys. I promise. :)

... That's going to bite me in the ass in a couple months when I have to start paying back all those student loans ;p But I'm sure they'll be worth it in the end. Just rough right now.

Same here... :/

Lots of patience, some Scotch tape and a dust free environment. I buy screen protectors in bulk from eBay as I can never put the first one on correctly....ever. Usually I get it right around the third/fourth try.

And I just bought a 5 pack of random HDMI cables from Thingfling. Never ordered from them before so I'm vaguely curious to see how this will turn out. Can never have too many HDMI cables lying around :)

From the same company, and they work fine....HDMI is more complex though, let us know how they are, I like the see through design.

That's the thing...the cables they're sending are random and probably not like the one pictured. They said they would be from "name-brand" companies and that the lengths would range anywhere from 3ft - 12ft. Basically it's a grab bag of HDMI cables. Eh, for $15 i think it's worth it.
