I just bought this seatpost for my bike. It's gonna look so good! It sucks though because I will have to mess around with saddle placement for a couple days before I get it right (new seatpost and nothing to use as a reference when setting the saddle position. I know the angle I need for the saddle though; slightly less than level. If I set it perfectly level, I start to get hip pain.

Why did I buy it? I've been meaning to replace my bike's suspension seatpost because it's heavy and I have the preload set as high as possible (so it's pretty much like a very heavy non-suspended seatpost). But often, the preload screw will come loose and the suspension will start to get bouncy which causes shocks to go to a very bad place (I'm a male and would like to reproduce in the future). I've also been adding white accents to my bike, so I figured I might as well go with a white post while I'm at it.

My white Macbook is slow so I pulled the trigger this morning and bought a new Macbook Pro with 8GB of ram. Can't wait for it to arrive.

Can you take a measurement from the clamp on your bike straight the nose of the saddle? That should be pretty darn equal for height. Then to measure setback get a yardstick or something you can rely on to be straight and use two points on your bike to reference and then mark the saddle with a piece of tape to get it back to that point. Will that work?

That is a great idea! I never even thought of that!

Edit: Actually it won't work because I do not have a 90º seat tube. My seat tube angle is much more relaxed.

Edit 2: Just realized you were talking about height. No worries about height, it will take about 5 minutes to get the height right without any special measurements. And setback is the issue I will need to deal with and make small adjustments to after every half mile or so. I like your idea of measuring the setback though!

The difference is AMAZING! Few hundred bucks just added a ton of extra life to this machine!

All 3 of these things are sitting in my shopping cart, waiting until payday. I saw your post and wondered if my future self had posted! lol

Any more details on the speed increase? How about the upgrade process? I have no worries about it, but was just curious about how it went.

No problem. Happy to know I helped you today too. I know how critical bike fit can be and how tough it can be to get it just right. I spent weeks on my pedals alone before my knees quit aching.

When I got clipless pedals, I spent about 2 weeks to get my knees to stop aching and to get rid of the hotspots in the bottoms of my feet. I still have a hotspot in my left foot that I think I can get used to.

You shouldn't try to get used to anything. That's bad for your body. You're bike a machine and has no feelings, make the cleats, bars, pedals, seat and everything in between fit right now or you'll pay for it later. When I finally got my cleats right it was like night and day. When they were bad 20 miles hurt, when they were good 50 miles didn't hurt my knees at all. Have you considered a pro fit? What kind of pedals are they?

Pro fit is too expensive. I have Shimano PD-M520s with a pair of Performance (as in the bike shop chain) MTB shoes.

The process was really smooth, but this also wasn't my first time operating on this computer. I was in there once to swap the original 250 to a 500. Then again to move from that 500 to the XT hybrid I had before the SSD. So I was definitely familiar with that aspect. The RAM upgrade is incredibly easy. If anything, just take your time and it'll be fine.

Setup wasn't bad because I knew I wanted a fresh install of OSX on the SSD. For now the 500 is in Firewire 800 enclosure while I set everything up, and then will make its way into it's home in the optibay.

And to stay on track $25 on Amazon today (for all consoles if anyone is interested). I couldn't pass up such a good deal on a new game.

Such a fun albeit frustrating game! I ended up breaking my disc into a million pieces out of frustration. The game became 'unplayable' when I was 86% through it  Make sure you ALWAYS stock up on molotovs and grenades!!:D
