Yes, a basic emergency bag is a good thing to have. The thing is, where I live and travel, I would never be able to end up in a situation where a shovel could be of use, let alone water purifier tablets. That's why I got curious.

I grew up with lots of snow, and we're moving to a place w/snow, so that's where that thinking came in ;). You never know when you might encounter someone who's slid off the road and needs some help, or you slide off yourself. Better to have and not need, than need and not have.
As for the water, do you always travel where there is abundant fresh, bottled water? It's true half the stuff in this bag will never get used, but what if?

Definitely, but some of those things are about as useful as a tiger trap in my situation :)

I live in the most densely populated area in one of the world's most densely populated countries, we don't get "real" storms or any other type of natural disasters and it's safe to drink the tap water. It's hard for me even to find a water source so that I could use the water purification tablets ;)

But I have them in my travel bag though...

I guess the title of this thread should be, "Critique someone's purchases."

Just bought these cases for my New iPad and iPhone. I have had one before for the iPhone and now I got a new one. They are really well made even if the cost a bit extra from the website.

bought for $6500. well maintained and had a group of certified mechanics, jeep enthusiasts and off road guru's check it out first. i am happy and have never owned a vehicle like this before. craigslist in colorado springs.

Pretty good price if everything is working like it should! Enjoy it, I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee lifted and my father has a lifted Wrangler. Love the Jeep lifestyle!

I see what you failed to do there, but the Bolds cost about the same as the equivalent Android phones and are quite well refined. Simply not having a touchscreen doesn't make a phone inferior. BBs don't have the same selection of apps but they're better for messaging, social networking, and security.

I bought a BB 9900 a couple of weeks ago (inserts pic here LOL) and I am loving it over the nexus I had previously

Did you take my posts as critique? How did that happen? How can anyone be that easily offended?

I got curious to where you lived, being able to end up in a situation where those things could actually be of use. The reason being me living in a completely different surrounding. But yeah, so sorry for being interested in your posts...
