I tried a couple of times but the "LCD" screen comes out paper white which sorta kills it.

Also, I think the OS averages the Contrast for the whole image. So since almost 2/3 of the image is black, the time displays white.

This seems to work although the display has to be white in order for the watch to show black text.

Yeah, I think the biggest drawback of the custom photo face option is the lack of complications. I get why you'd want to leave much of the face open to see the background image, but creative designers could create some nice options to blend in with any complications also on the screen. For that reason, I personally find the custom photo face option useless.

I totally understand. Yep, right now many of these faces, including mine (especially this complex scoreboard) would be totally useless for complications. We just have simple photos right now. When that time comes..and I hope that ability comes soon, you can work around the spaces with Photoshop. Honestly the ones I've made and posted I don't even use - I take a pic of what it looks like and then remove them from my iPhone album - I just sort of enjoy seeing what I can create..(I get bored, what can I say. :) ) The Watch faces I use..pretty much switching from Simple, Solar, or the Modular faces. Those are my favorites.

And I've said it before and know others have to - in addition to complications, I really would love new watch faces.

What if by os3 they bring a watch face store. Imagine all the Disney character faces you could have. All of Disney and Marvel and Star Wars and variants of the like.
Imagine if Apple is working like 20 new faces for the next update. Awesome. The ones it comes with have a lot of thought put into it already. Can't wait to see what they come up with next.

I've really enjoyed your submissions by the way, so I certainly didn't mean to denigrate the effort. Just airing my issues with the current options.

That would be nice, but I think the new editions added in OS2 were lackluster overall. I was expecting a bit more for such a "significant" update.

I'd love to see a watch face store that was open to developers as well, but I could easily see copyright issues clouding that viability. Though I suppose the current App Store has the same issues.

This would be great if the date and time goes black and not white, the top half goes to a shade of grey instead of staying white, if you understand that lol

I would like that too, I'll mess with the photoshop file later. I was able to get black text, numbers on one of my watch faces a few pages ago. Not sure right now if the background must be 100% white.

Even a very light gray will give white text/numbers with a shadow.
