returned my second one today as it was a piece of c**p. Screen gradient was awful, as there was an obvious difference in colours top and bottom. It was a Samsung screen. Obviously apple haven't taken note about this problem if they keep shipping duff machines. Also the dvd drive didn't work and the lid wasn't aligned properly when it was shut. Returned for a refund and waiting till they fix this issue.

So I've gone through one repair and two replacements. I'm going to get another replacement from a different Apple store. The yellow tint really is very slight, and I can see how people might not see it. I really am suspicious that EVERY machine has it but most people don't notice or care.

This is so frustrating. As much as I like Mac OSX, I got the computer because of its great hardware and the option to run Windows. If I end up running Windows most of the time, then I feel like it would be a waste to have a screen with a yellow tint on the bottom of the screen.

When this issue is resolved, should I call Apple Care and have it repaired? I'm just so tired of dealing with Apple. I want to enjoy what I do on my new computer, rather than think about the computer's problems.

Perhaps I should just forget the yellow tint and stop thinking about it?

I really feel bad for everyone that has this issue and this is just a thought and may be totally useless, but... Are most of you replacing the machines with news ones from Apple stores or from the online store? My reason for asking is if you are replacing from brick and mortar, they may not be receiving more recent models. Perhaps they are still selling stock from their early shipments. Some one posted in one of the threads that a store was having a lot of problems getting their machines. They had finally received two of the 20 they ordered and both of them had been resealed according to this post. It seems like more and more people are starting to post with the "perfect SR MBP" Perhaps this could be because Apple has started to fix some of the issues and the more recent ones being delivered are better. Just a thought and I hope for everyone's sake that it could possibly true. Best of luck resolving this issue to your satisfaction.

my problem is with the amount of threads about the same issue, asking the same questions.

This is not the same question, this is a more sophisticated evolution of the questions already asked. It is weeding out those who might be oblivious to the yellowing; stopping them from polluting the surveys. Also we will find out if there really are perfect screens. If you can't see that then that is your sorry problem my friend.

in a manor that creates a bulk of threads that are difficult to read through and keep track of is unconstructive.

This is a joke. Your pointless comments are what is creating bulk that makes this useful new/ clean thread impossible to wade through. It is deeply unconstructive and if I were you I'd stop slumming it with the troubled 15inchers and go and enjoy my non-yellowing 17in HD screen. It is definitely time for you to graciously bow out now. Or maybe we should call in the moderation you obnoxiously call for??

I understand your point, but once people get a replacement and then get a machine they are satisfied with, they stop looking in the threads about problems, and so no one gets any questions answered. Instead, we keep seeing dozens of threads titled "yay my MBP is perfect!" (which is equally annoying, and there have been an equal number of other threads asking people if they have perfect computers) That doesn't help us a bit.

Sorry for creating this thread. I did not want to cause trouble, just wanted some answers.

You know... valid point. I apologize.
