My M1 Macbook pro 16/2TB wouldn't sync to my
LG 27GL650F-B with an USB-C to HDMI 2m cable - which works fine with my Samsung S20 Ultra and my Samsung Tab S6, I hoped it was just the length of 2m and that seems to be the problem - the Macbook Pro M1 won't sync up with a 2m HDMI cable.
The
Hyperdrive 6-port Gen2 USB-C Hub works 100% - HDMI syncs up with the LG 1920x1080 @ 144hz with a 1m HDMI-HDMI cable - but it also won't sync with a straight 2m HDMI-HDMI cable.
I wanted portable USB-C Hub for size convenience, but I also need Ethernet and Digital Audio so I also ordered the recently released
Hyperdrive Thunderbolt 16-port Hub, which comes with a DisplayPort instead of HDMI, so I am currently driving a 1m DisplayPort cable to my LG monitor @ 144hz.
BTW, the audio out of both hubs is amazing out of the 3.5mm port to my Beyerdynamic DT 770 16 ohm and DT 880 600 ohm, I'm surprised at the power output of the 16-port hub as well as the sub-bass and bass control - very dynamic. I'll hookup to my Topping D90 with Optical Toslink and Coax too, but for now the audio out of the Hyperdrive hubs is impressive and satisfying enough.
I was a little concerned about only 2 Thunderbolt ports on the M1 Macbook's, but I've come to learn that they are both full throughput Thunderbolt controllers, and the 4 port Thunderbolt Macbooks actually share 2 controllers anyway, like the 2 controllers in the M1. Using external port extenders we can double up and more on the Thunderbolt ports.

The Hyperdrive 16-port comes with a 180w power supply delivering power to the hub and the Macbook Pro M1, all through 1 Thunderbolt port on the Macbook, pretty cool.
The Ethernet is getting the full 940Mbit/42Mbit as bandwidth from the provider allows - we are getting heavy use in the suburbs due to the "work from home" quarantine measures, so I have to measure my maximum throughput during the slow times of the day, which isn't the daytime any longer.
I'm swapping the monitor back and forth between the Macbook M1 and a 3700x/2070 Super PC, and the Macbook is far more responsive - especially after moving from Wifi to Ethernet 1Gbit internet - and I'm gradually getting used to the MacOS again.
The Video image on the LG is much better from the Macbook M1 than the 2070 Super. The 2070 Super GPU is more powerful for gaming FPS, but for the games I've tried compatible for the MacOS on Steam + Stadia on the Macbook Pro M1, I'm quite pleased with the gaming performance.
It's real nice having the PC turned off - now enjoying a zero fan noise environment - with the Macbook Pro M1
Oh yeah, I'm using a dual slot vertical dock that takes hardly any room on the desktop - and holds a Macbook Pro M1, Samsung S6 Tablet, and with adjustment a Kindle. Very handy to have the all those sorted out of the way. I am using
MacOS Amphetamine to keep the external display running with the Macbook Pro M1 lid closed.
