I use a BenQ EL2879U UHD 28" as primary screen currently connected to USB-C > DisplayPort on the Mini, and an Acer K272HL 1080p as secondary connected with DisplayLink (USB 3.0 > HDMI). I've been having some problems seemingly related to HDMI and that's why I am now testing with the secondary monitor connected with a DisplayLink adapter instead of HDMI. Hoping it fixes the issues with waking from sleep and occasional kernel panics.

M1 Mini, 16gb 256ssd.
Apple Thunderbolt monitor, picked up at a good price in a used computer shop. It looks as good as my discontinued 27" iMac and has the added advantage of bringing along some more USB A ports and an Ethernet connection. With a USB 3 hub plugged into the remaining TB port on the M1, I have more than enough capacity to plug in stuff.

It all works.

As a test, it will not charge an M1 Air.

M1 MBA 16/512 connected via active TB3 cable to LG 5K revision A. I have a decent quality USB-C hub hanging out of one of the ports on the mack of the LG. The webcam on the LG is much better than on the MacBooks so that is an added bonus.

Are people really okay with 60Hz refresh rates?

I'd like to know what kind of success people are having with 120+Hz external displays and their M1 macs. Right now I have my 2019 i5 MBP13 connected to a CalDigit docking station which in turn is connected via DisplayPort to my Asus ROG PG278Q running at 2560x1440@144Hz. Not interested in taking a step back.
