New Great Dane parent right here

I'm more of a lurker than a poster on most boards I join but I just had to share this information with everyone. I have wanted a Great Dane for a long time but there were many reasons that kept me from being a responsible parent. However, the time finally came and I picked up my new kid this past weekend.

He is a 6 week old blue male Great Dane who goes by the name Kakarot (from Dragonball Z) or Khaki. He sleeps most of the day away but enjoys jumping around and chewing on his toys when he wakes up.

Such a cute puppy. Can't wait until he turns into a small pony! I hope you have your **** glued down man!

Congrats on him. Sometimes having a dog is a PITA, but the majority of the time it is pretty fantastic.

That is exactly what my girlfriend calls Danes, small ponies. She was very against getting such a large dog at first but the local Danes at the dog park won her over. We have a very minimalist design in our house so few odds and ends laying around or on tables for him to destroy.

I wouldn't say PITA but definitely a challenge. A challenge we both love and enjoy, our dogs really are our kids.

Lovely photo. Really very, very good. How does Godzuki get on with one-eyed Bob, the star of several of your other posts? And, for the record, how is Bob?

Thanks :)

Godzuki is still a bit wary of little Bob a year in and tends to scarper out of his way whenever he comes near. My other cat (Chewy) is more tolerant of him and will interact with him.

Bob himself has grown into a real character. He's pretty naughty a lot of the time but he's so cute that we forgive him. He's still in his adolescent naughty phase so he'll, hopefully, grow out of it. We love him so much though and couldn't live without the little chap.

Here's some recent photos of him.

Licking his lips as he'd just jumped shoulder height to steal a bite of my wife's hog roast sandwich.

Just looking generally naughty.

Pulled this off of our fence.

One of his quieter moments.

Thanks :)

Thanks for sharing; Bob (and indeed Godzuki and Chewy) are fortunate to have such a caring environment in which to thrive. Lovely pics - and Godzuki seems a character, too.

One-eyed Bob can jump to shoulder height to steal a bite of your wife's hog roast sandwich? He has certainly come a very long way since his rescue if he is able to do that!

I couldn't resist, my min pin was in the bathtub, hiding from the thunder storm.

And my shiba-inu just being silly.

It's Mr. Cat! Just a random shot I took to test out my new lens, I think it's pretty funny
