It has been a long time since I last listened to Don McLean's American Pie.

My Sentimental Melody – The Magnetic Fields

Sounds like a pastiche of They Might Be Giants.

Always been a big Billy fan but Action Bronson's 'Brand New Car' sample
brought me back to this one recently. It's amazing how Steely-Dan-ish it
sounds... right down to the jazzy chord progressions on the electric piano.
Freddie Hubbard tears it up on the trumpet breaks.

Surprisingly Rockstar Games has some good playlists on Spotify.
Haven't played the games, but the GTA Playlists are really good background music while on my MacBook.

Contrary to what people believe, she is a fantastic woman! I met her at her recent tour in Sydney and she is an absolute genuine sweetheart. Extremely powerful voice. Her performance at the iTunes Festival was incredibly raw. Swine and ARTPOP live are fantastic. Give her a chance, listening to these two songs at the iTunes festival, because they are brilliant!

Currently, they're playing The Script in the office. (More specifically, right now it's on "Breakeven")

This band is finally back with their original vocalist and new band members. If anyone is aware of Breaking Benjamin, they now have an album coming this month after a 6 year hiatus, and it looks extremely promising.

I've been on a Film Noir kick lately as part of TCM's Summer of Darkness series and I found, this morning, some very nice Film Noir music playlists on Spotify.

Diamonds and Rust, by Joan Baez.
And "Music in a Dolls House" by Family from the late 60's.
