How is the grip in the wet? My OEM ExtremeContacts are going to need replacing soon and I'm fluctuating between another set of ExtremeContacts or going with the forum-recommended Pilot Super Sports.

I think they are really good in the wet. With the Toyos I had on my car before, pretty much any amount of moisture on the road would make them understeer in a turn. Meanwhile with these, I didn't slow down as much as I thought I did making a fairly sharp turn, and it was hardly like the ground was soaked from days of rain at all. And at $120 a piece for the size I ordered (which was perfectly what I needed), I think I got a pretty good buy

Thanks for the feedback. I checked with several local tire shops and the ExtremeContacts are special order only in the sizes I needed unfortunately. Took a gamble and paid a bit extra for the PSS which were in-stock.
It's rated for dry and wet, not snow, so it's probably not going to be a good replacement for your DWS tires but I have to say there is a noticeable improvement in grip levels. Check them out if you ever need summer tires :)

Bike to Work Day 2012

Today was bike to work day in Denver. I decided I would wake up early and hit all of the stations with sponsors around Denver. I am 16 and don't have a job (yet), so I was just riding to ride. First I went to Primal Wear's station on the Cherry Creek MUP near my house and got a muffin. Then I went to Creekside park off of the MUP in Glendale, CO. I got some good freebies there. Then I went to 9news's station. They had Clif and BikeDenver there. Got some great Clif freebies. Then I went to Civic Center Park (near the capitol). TONS OF STUFF THERE. The bike co-op that I volunteer at was there. Got a free cup of Starbucks coffee, got some Blue Bell ice cream, chips, patch kits, etc... I heard Denver mayor Hancock speak about expanding Denver's cycling infrastructure. He plans on having over 100mi of bike lanes by 2013!

Anyway, now to the S.W.A.G (stuff we all get):

Free B&N Nook Simple Touch from Continental for buying a set of their ExtremeContact DWS tires (which I think are awesome)

Their bike tires are fantastic too! Conti GP4000s? One of the best tires on the market for cycling. Too bad they run $80 per tire. My tires cost about $20/tire.

Amazon has some free album downloads (why, I'm not sure):

Haven't heard the last two but they were free. :)

Amazon has some others you can find by looking up free MP3's (which has a lot of smaller bands) or googling slickdeals and one of the album names (lists larger bands' free albums). I'd put a link in here but that's against the rules and I'd imagine it'd get taken down.

Edit: Free album's are not free anymore.

This company called Aspen Ski and Board Co. was having a video contest on their Facebook page, so I entered my snowboarding video. I didn't win but they ended up giving everyone that participated a $100 gift certificate to their store; all I wanted was the jacket and told the girl that was helping me that she can throw in whatever random stuff she could find if there was any remaining balance. She hooked me up, I added up the price tags and it was about $250 worth of stuff (jacket was $150 alone but was discounted).

Burton jacket, Burton beanie, Spacecraft beanie, Nomis shirt, Volcom bandana, and a ton of stickers.

Here is a link to my youtube page if you want to see my snowboarding videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/FrozenGroundFilms

My front bike tire developed a tear in the sidewall, through the tire casing. It was a cheap tire that came with the bike, so I'm not surprised it happened. I was about 1/8 mile away from my favorite bike shop, so I decided I would limp my bike over there. The mechanic told me the tire was unusable due to the tear and I'd have to replace it asap. I was going to buy a cheap tire to use until I could afford a ~$160 per pair set of Continental Grand Prix 4000 S's, but the mechanic said he'd check in their storage room for a used tire that would be usable. He found me a (~$60 MSRP) Continental Gatorskin that had MAYBE 200 miles of wear on it. He said "this tire looks usable. It's yours!" So I took off the old tire, cut the beads up (so if someone tried to use it, it would be obvious that it's damaged) and installed the new one. I'll head back to the shop to get a matching tire. Gatorskins are one of the most bulletproof tires on the market. You can ride through glass, thorns, etc and not get a flat.

Got myself this for free! It isn't working (HDD failure), but my friend was just going to throw it out. I asked if I could have it instead, and he was fine with it. I'll see if I can fix it, if not, it'll be a nice decorating item. :)
