And...does this sound normal to you? I think it is from the fan. Not this loud but audible in a very quiet room.

Probably not a good idea to sit the monitor that low. You could possibly block airflow.

Please excuse my cord clutter. Once my toddler son is past the baby proofing phase, I will take care of it, once and for all. :)

I need to see a stool hight set ups, something where I can stand while using the computer. Also too one of the benefits to an imac is space saving. I wish to take full advantage of this feature and keep with the simple uncluttered look...Anyone has this?

For an example:

Does that iBook still get any use? G3 or G4? Thanks

It's a G4, and yes, absolutely. It's sort of like those old Nokia bar phones, that were built like tanks and lasted forever. I'm super impressed with it, and especially love that it has the matte screen they offered in the good old days. :)

Yeah my friend uses a G4 as his main computer! Very surprised but with his featherweight workload, he doesn't require much else. I think the build quality of all things apple in general is built very solidly. My dad still has a 2006 Macbook Pro which has been firing on all cylinders since he got it

That's awesome! I think the last iBooks were in a league of their own though. I got a Macbook after, and gave the iBook to my mom. Just about everything that could be dead, was, in under a year. Plus the reflective screen was not my cup of tea. I got my mom and iPad so I could get my iBook back. :) Taught me to not mess with something that ain't broke, if you will.

I can't use it for my day to day, but for travel, stays in the hospital, or even just wanting to be online somewhere besides my desk, it's amazing.

When I see those kind of pictures, I immediately regret quit playing saxophone and piano. :(

Sorry. Wasn't intending to bring up any past regrets but I know how you feel :(

I have a digital piano in the living room but I still don't play nearly as much as I used to. Trying to get back more into practicing and playing, aside from recording.

You could always get back into it, at the very least as a hobby. I know I can't live without music and some keys at my fingertips. :)

Nice Setup but what is the benefit of having 2 sets of speakers?

I guess monitors are for piano and other speakers are for iMac or vice versa. :)

Thank you :)

Yes, as M0esmac guessed correctly, the KRKs are for proper monitoring, for recording and production. Also for critical/casual music listening.

The second set is a consumer level hi-fi 5.1 system, mainly for games and movies/tv shows in surround sound. For pure music enjoyment and long spells when I want to make the house shake a bit for a couple of hours, I listen on this set. The fun and leisurely stuff basically. :D

But also for production purposes, having a second set of speakers on hand, particularly a hi-fi set like this one, is also helpful as another reference for listening to my final mixes, which should present to me a sound comparable to what most people listen to music on. Basically, I can hear my work through the ears of the casual listener and see how my mixes translate onto standard consumer household speakers. Since hi-fi speakers are not flat sounding compared to proper studio monitors, the sound levels can differ greatly, so it's helpful for me to compare the levels.

i almost bought this from ebay. its perfect for me because there is a radiator along the bottom of the wall that prevents things from going flush against the wall. I ended up with a glass desk. worst mistake ever.
