It's OWC memory (32GB, 240-pin SDRAM DIMM 2048M x 72, Dual Rank ECC Memory Module Data Rate = 1333MHz).

From their website about the memory utilization in the mac pro:
"Apple Mac Pro 2013 models utilizes ECC non-Registered for 4GB and 8GB per slot options and ECC Registered for 16GB (and larger) per slot options. Any existing 4GB and 8GB ECC non-Registered modules cannot be mixed with 16GB and larger ECC-Registered modules and will need to be removed in order to utilize these higher density memory upgrade options.

Special 32GB module use information: Due to processor design and memory architectures, 32GB module utilization occurs at a bus speed of 1066MHz with Apple Mac Pro 2013 E5-16XXv2 4-Core, 6-Core, and 8-Core processor equipped models, 800MHz with factory 12-Core or after-market E5-26XX equipped models. Utilization of 2 or more 32GB modules minimum is recommended and utilization of overall performance with applications and workflows able to utilize higher available memory remains exceptional."

Since my workflow uses this much memory it is worth the sacrificed memory bus speed.

Mavericks actually runs really nicely on he first gen mac pro, apart from updates being a bit interesting (as the custom bootloader tends to get replaced, rendering the install unbootable)

Also a phantom i7 chip in your laptop. But i figured that was the more obvious one which someone else would point out.

I't not so much a phantom chip, but the specs just aren't right for the mac it reports to be. Because, well... it's not a mac. When my much loved 2008 MBP needed replacing last year i decided to go with a hackintosh, as much as i would love another MBP their just way out of my price range

It's really a Acer E1-571, It's a nice enough laptop but the build quality just isn't the same as the MBP (about one year in i have already replaced the DC socket, i'm on my second charger (but thats about the same rate as the MBP went through chargers) and last week i had to epoxy the left hinge mounts back in)

Never understood how people went through laptop chargers. I've never replaced a laptop charger ever. I've only had to replace batteries after 18 months or so. Never had frayed cables or magsafes either.

I know several people who are coming to the realisation you have. Yes Windows PCs are cheaper but in the long run, they rarely ever last as well as Macs hardware-wise.

With chargers it depands how much time you spend with the charger plugged in and where you use the laptop. i use my laptop mainly on my lap, with it plugged in, so allot of stress is going to be put on the cable / DC socket. If my laptop lived on my desk (but also plugged in) i wouldn't expect to see any problems (But i have a desktop for that )

So really i can't complain, i should give the charger / DC socket a break by not having it plugged in all the time....
