After using Windows since I was a teen in the 90s, I switched to Macintosh last year. Truth be told, I've always been a closet Apple fan. We used Apple computers with Photoshop and QuarkXPress when I was in high school.

My three main Macs. The 2013 Mac Pro is my main machine and what I do most of my video editing on. It's the bone stock model, save for the additional 4GB of RAM I installed after I bought the machine (official Apple/Micron DIMM to match the rest, $30 on eBay vs $100 from Apple) and I'm currently looking into a 512GB SSD. Was bought refurbished from Apple in February of this year. (Note that I have San Francisco set as my font, that's why it shows up really weird). The 2012 Mac Pro is actually a 2009 that I upgraded. I went into a PLIST file and edited it so it would show up as a 2012. Found this machine completely stripped at a recyclers for $40 and rebuilt it and upgraded it from then to earlier this year. Currently serves as my backup machine.

Finally, there is my laptop. I owned a late-2013 dGPU MacBook Pro 15" Retina, but after it died multiple times due to GPU problems (which the two machines that preceded it also had within a year of ownership) I returned its replacement for a gift card and bought the 2013 Mac Pro. I needed a portable machine, so I bought this machine the following month because I wanted an i5/i7 machine at minimum. It's a bone stock late-2011 13" MBP. Overall the machine is actually really nice, just wish it was a bit faster for on-the-go video editing. When I got it a few months ago, the owner still had Lion installed and the original hard drive. As soon as I got it I put in a spare 250GB SSD I had it my Mac Pro, then last month I upgraded the RAM. Currently runs El Capitan Beta 3 (which I just saw is labeled as '10.11 Beta' under version number now).

Was recently given this 2010 Mac Mini as a gift from my best friend. Came with the stock 2GB RAM and 320GB hard drive; I put in a 120GB SSD I had laying around, and my dad bought me an 8GB DDR3 kit. Can't beat a free, fully-upgraded Mac! Installed Yosemite on it, and now it's my first ever Mac with a current version of OSX. I plan to use it as my daily machine for non-gaming (will still keep my custom-built PC for gaming and heavy-duty stuff, of course), and once I buy a Firewire-800 enclosure, it will also host my media over the network from a 2TB drive (that drive is currently in a desktop, which is not the most efficient or quiet to keep on 24/7).

This one took a surprising amount of effort to get...I've been working on it for about a month. An EFI-compatible video card from MacVidCards was what-I think-made all the difference at least in my being able to get to this point.

Pretty basic MacBook Pro Retina. The 8GB of RAM gets the job done for my productive work (digital design), all tho I do regret not picking the 16GB version, but as I'd have to wait another 2 weeks, my patience got to me first
