As well as Assetto Corsa I've have rFactor 2, Project Cars, DiRT Rally and F1 2016 installed at the moment. After years of using a gamepad I recently purchased a Thrustmaster TMX Racing Wheel, my lap times have improved drastically. I don't seem to destroy tyres like I used to either. A sound investment!love that game. Im a bit of a car simulation geek. Which others do you play?
What you playing, apart from AC ?
I pushed the GTX 1060 in a few other games over the weekend. Worth noting is that I have a Dell UltraSharp U3415W that runs at 3440 x 1440 pixels.
All of the above games I could max out the settings and it would sit about 60 FPS, so for my needs it certainly does the job. In Witcher 3 I can use the ultra settings and, if I turn off 'Hair Works', I can get it to run around 40-45 FPS. If I set the resolution of the screen to 1080 that magic 60 FPS is easily obtainable. So that's pretty reasonable. Guild Wars 2 is another matter, can barely scratch about 30 FPS, in cities, with the everything on max. Strangely setting the resolution in Guild Wars 2 to 1080p seems to actually reduce FPS. One issue I've seen with reducing the resolution, on both Witcher 3 and Guild Wars 2, is that the colours become very washed out, most noticeable is that the blacks become very grey. I could probably find a fix for it, but I don't play Guild Wars 2 that much anymore and the numbers in Witcher 3 are acceptable to me at 1440.
I remain on the fence on whether to keep the card or not. It is tempting to drop in a 1070 and see what that can do, however the ridiculously low power usage of the GTX 1060 has already begun to save me money, compared to the old electricity guzzling HD 7950, and I think that it might be wiser appreciate the smaller gains now and wait to see what the modular Mac Pro brings to the table in regard to PC Graphic Card support.
Decisions. Decisions.
