Yes, I went with the 13-inch unibody... I expect this to last me 9 years as well, and that ain't happening with an HD and RAM that can't be upgraded. ;)

When my first 13 inch 2012 non retina pro was replaced with a retina pro by Apple last year (Warranty issues), I sold it and bought the same machine as you :D

Not impressive, but still running fine. (Still on Mavericks because El Capitan is a huge battery hog, and it doesn't help with my almost dead battery (Last something like 1h30/2h)

Figured id post my Newest Mac here :) got this recently after a lot of saving up and a bit of help. its really nice to own a dream machine and finally a modern mac. its a Mid 2012 Classic MacBook pro 9,1, with 16GB of RAM a 512GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD and the 2.6Ghz 1GB VRAM option (id be happy with the 2.3 one but they only have 512MB of VRAM so 2.6 it was) it has the standard res screen (id love a HR AG screen but this machine is in REALLY nice condition and i got it for a very nice price so i aint going to complain plus less pixels to push means that ever so slightly faster UI :p ) this thing is REALLY fast, its even faster then my Mac Pro in All departments... (I still use the Mac Pro as my main machine but this 9,1 is my main laptop and some times stands in for the mac pro say if theres a heat wave. 240W worth of CPU in the Mac Pro does make my room quite toasty...) this is my only computer that can run Sierra (Mac or PC) I got this Mac specifically for my main laptop as it was the last of the classic MBPs before the retina and as such it had the best of both worlds so to speak had all the older ports FireWire ethernet a DVD drive normal RAM and HDD etc while also having thunderbolt and USB3 and handoff capable wifi/bt setup also its one of the very few MBPs that dont have any design flaws... (dont have to worry about the GPU Crapping out on me yay) that and its very fast and can stand in for my Mac pro with no issues if i need it too (its my perfect laptop basically)

overall im very happy with the mac and i hope it lasts me for many years to come :)

Loving the new OS, waiting for an update to fix some bugs tho like weird sleep issues and un-smooth scrolling.

I just found out this week that I couldn't upgrade to macOS Sierra so I finally upgraded to El Capitan. Seems faster than before :)
