Well, it could have been Darwine... ;)

Hector, how is Crossover, compared to Darwine (which is s*** at the moment)? Is it actually working?

I'm only interested in running MSIE 6 (and maybe 7 later) to make sure pages I develop looks OK for the big stupid majority. I'm running Win2000 in Parallels now and that works very well, but if I could avoid Parallels and Windows and just run it, that would be nice... :)

Server (iBook G4 1.42GHz, screen is broken, insurance payed for the new iBook I have), iMac, and iBook.

I know I posted the iMac and iBook before, but since I just got OS X Server, I thought I'd throw them in too - again. :p

I need to upgrade the RAM. 1 GB is pretty good, but pretty good isn't good enough for me... :p

Why do some About This Mac windows show the Startup Disk and some not? Is that an Intel-only feature for some reason?

No. I think it is just an indication that, at some point or another, another (bootable?) volume had been mounted...

I've yet to crack the exact pattern of behaviour though...

Hrmmm...I haven't booted any other way on my PB.

*mystery*

Mine shows the start up drive. I have an external drive but only connect it to backup.

I've asked this a few times, it doesn't appear to be an Intel/PPC thing as I've seen both with it and without it. My iBook G4 running 10.4.7 doesn't show it and never has. BTW, I have booted off of an external hd before.

Here's my Startup Disc control panel if it will help solve the mystery.

From this old thread there's a mentioning of this as a new Tiger feature:

About This Mac
View the name of the startup disk in the enhanced About This Mac menu — great if you have multi-drive setups.

Just adds to my confusion, at least, as I've never chosen the Startup Disk on my MacBook:

I've had several external disk attached to it though...

Solved? It looks like you need an external drive connected when you launch 'About This Mac'.
Nope. None of my computers were connected to an external when I posted my about shots, and 2 of the 3 had the start up disk in the about panel.

I added another internal drive - and I have an external LaCie. This box has given me some serious bang for the buck...

Good question, Doctor Q. I'm thinking it may be if you have started up from a different volume ever before, it might tell you what volume it's starting up on.

IDK, just what I'm thinking. :)

I've always loved the symmetry of ones on my Titanium's 'About This Mac' window.

(Can't wait till I have enough cash to upgrade to a symmetry of twos on a MacBook Pro...)
