Anyways, I updated mine to 10.4.9 yesterday.

Here's mine. As you can see, it's showing the Startup Disk. As said earlier in this thread, it usually doesn't show that unless you have another HD (internal or external) or a disc in your optical drive. Thing is, I don't have any HD's connected or any discs in and mine is still showing that. That's my only annoyance with 10.4.9. Everything else has been smooth so far.
Have you plugged in a drive earlier on and still not logged out?? That is what happens on mine
I'm just wondering...is it actually possible to change your memory to something faster than 667MHz DDR2 RAM?
If my parents decide to upgrade from their iMac G3 to something new, I'll restore it to 10.0.3 as I often did before they switched. It's fun to see the odd differences like the Dock Extra, old user icons, and how System Preferences was "System Prefs".
I downgraded back to Jaguar on my old Power Mac not too long before I sold it to see what it was like, since I switched when Panther was out. Talk about a difference!! A lot of subtle changes and a lot of major ones, as well. No Exposé! That got annoying rather quickly. Tiger is also WAY faster than Jaguar. Jaguar was the best OS in it's day, for sure, but OS X has improved dramatically since then, IMO.
Jaguar is the only one I haven't used. I switched about three years ago, and my sister, who is a technophobe, kept that "broken" iMac in the basement and got a Dell laptop. I took it to the Geek Squad and they restored it and installed 10.1 Puma (which my sister failed to even acknowledge that OS X existed), but uninstalled OS 9 for some reason. I took a class a week before on Final Cut Pro, which they used Panther, so I was quite confused why Expose wasn't working and why the Aqua buttons weren't flattened out. I eventually bought the Panther upgrade within three weeks, but bought a G5 that spring. I knew enough about macs by then that I restored it to 9.1 and 10.0, then 10.1, and I'd eventually get so frustrated with IE and iTunes 2 that I'd install Panther. Then, I'd feel nostalgic, and I'd repeat it all over again. When I eventually convinced my mom to switch, I put Panther back on, but whenever I use it, I still use OS 9. I tried installing 10.0 over 10.3 last week, and it resulted in a kernel panic. Luckily, the Panther Setup Assistant was able to save everything while restoring the whole system.
I digress, but I remembered my original question for you. Did Jaguar have the flattened-out Aqua buttons found in Panther, Tiger, and Leopard, or the round ones found before it?
I seem to be in the minority of people who haven't upgraded their RAM...must do that.
Wouldn't it be cheaper to just stuff a sock down there? From my new Mac Pro
Well all problems aside it's pretty darn fast... uh but having a look at your set up can we swap RAM?? I guess it's not compatible so I'll have to wait for the other 2GB on the way. ...I can only dream right now of maxing it out like yours.I'll bet thats a beast, Raid.
