I hate all you people. I love the Apple Cinema displays, but I think the Mini is underpowered for what I'll be doing, and the MacPro is OTT. I love the iMac, but I'd kill for an ACD!

I agree. Currently I have a 19" LaCie CRT flat grille hooked up to my Mini that I got as a holdover to replace my Sawtooth till I got a 24" iMac Santa Rosa, somehow hoping midtower would come out in June so I could get that with a 23" ACD. I like the 24" iMac just not the white. I could even do black, wouldn't have to be silver. The Mac Pro is way overkill, plus too much $$$, especially the RAM, and I don't want something that big. And the Mini doesn't really have the power for FCE. Unless you want to wait. Maybe I will get a 15" MBP and a 23" ACD. I just don't like the idea of connecting drives, screen, external iSight, probably a hub for iPod docks, cameras, all that for what I want to be a desktop. I would rarely disconnect it, and then I have the MBP taking up desk space, not to mention need more external drives because the disk is so small.

It's actually 50 of them. Imaginet the price of that and the price of whatever computer(s) he has driving all of those screens.

Gotta be a cluster or something. I doubt one machine regardless of the array of video cards could drive that.

I saw your setup a while back in the setups thread. I still want to know, what kind of desk is that, and how exactly did you put that mixer in there and get it looking soo damned cool.

You know what, while you're at it, just tell me your whole :apple: life story.
I want to know!:p

Here's my 20" ACD. I came across a deal I couldn't refuse. My local CompUSA store is closing and everything is on clearance. I waited and waited until one day I walked in and it was marked 60% off the original $699 price. I ended up paying $279USD for it. I'm happy!

nice setup man. how are you liking the ACD hooked up to your MBP? I'm about to sell my 20inch iMac and stick to just a MBP and will probably get an ACD as well. How hot does your MBP get with the lid closed etc.

I really like this setup. The ACD is awesome, and I like the fact that everything matches. I take the MBP to work with me everyday, and when I get home I just put it on its stand and use the ACD. My MBP stays cool to the touch in this setup. Even more so since I got the Griffin Elevator. It allows air to flow all around the MBP, increasing its cooling ability. The MBP was designed to be able to run this way. It vents the hot air out the back, instead of venting up through the keyboard. I used to use the MBP away from home, and the iMac when I came home. Ever since I purchased the ACD, I don't think I've used the iMac at all. It's pretty much my wife and kids computer now.

that's cool man. My iMac is officially sold so I will probably be doing this same setup once the new ACD's come out, which I hope is soon. How much was the stand you have? and where did you get it?
