Battery health Critical ....around 68%

Hi everyone. I have a macbook pro unibody 2010 edition and it has been about 4 yrs since I have been using it regularly. My battery health is now around 68 per cent and it says "replace soon". How soon should I replace it? If I don't replace it like in about 6 months is the battery going to leak or something?

Also I found that we could get genuine apple macbook pro battery for like 60 bucks, is it better to buy at the apple store?

Thanks.

mine reads 98 % design capacity but in the pic i posted read 98.9 % so why is it going down ?? so fast

That's normal. Battery readings fluctuate all the time. Mine had gone down all the way to 84% before climbing up back to 94%. It differs with usage of different users.

Got this battery for free from someone who apparently bought a new computer and had a spare battery. Original battery with this 2006 Macbook is long dead so this was greatly appreciated

The battery on my old 13" MBP became absolutely terrible overtime, Is there anything I can do ensure the battery on my rMBP doesn't degrade as badly?

I was thinking about replacing my MBA battery as I wasn't very happy with the battery performance, but based on the data below, the battery appears to still be in pretty good condition. After tinkering with energy settings, it's performed much better:

I'm quite impressed with the lifespan of my Mid 2010 Macbook Pro 13. After 4 years my Dell Laptop was already at it's third battery.

Post your battery cycles/health

To tell the truth the batteries that have the MacBook Air/MacBook Pro are really spectacular! It was the first thing I noticed back on 2009 when I bought the MacBook Pro 15" (Mid 2009).I still use it and it still lasts! Not like the first day but it lasts for its cycles!

Mines not great... always bugged me a bit. Then I move on - until I stumble across the next thread like this, where the cycles repeats! :p

Call me a sucker for punishment!
