Here’s a burger from last summer … from a little hole-in-the-wall place in Sedona AZ.

Went Izakaya hopping on our first night in Japan.

Things are so crazy affordable right now with the Yen being weak.

Sashimi was $6.50. Gyozas $7 with a beer included. yakitori was $1.50 per stick.

I pay $60 a bottle for this in the states. It is one of my favorite whiskies. A 375ml was only around $13

Wow.

That looks absolutely amazing; I am salivating studying those images as I love Japanese cuisine.

Do enjoy.

Went a little manaqish crazy this week. Made them originally from a recipe, but realized that I liked them with sourdough better. These are zaatar and cheese manaqish. Made probably 20 over the past few days, we ate them as a family, then I brought some to the local college encampment, they devoured them. Brought the last ones to a party last night, real crowd pleaser and so easy. If you can make overnight sourdough pizza dough, you can make a killer manaqish.

That looks absolutely amazing.

I love to see a culinary classics mastered (and sometimes, reinterpreted brilliantly), by those from a different culinary heritage.

A local Japanese restaurant serves (and offers as a takeaway, thank you, Deliveroo), some of the very best fish'n'chips (the batter on the fish is a lovely, light, tempura batter), that I have had (or enjoyed) in an absolute age.

Thank you! Yeah, been using Vegenaise for years now. Come on, it’s got to be healthier than mayo. The sandwich itself wasn’t the healthiest, but dang it tasted really good…

Yeah, once I realized how easy it was to make mayonnaise, I ended my household ban, and I started with chipotle ancho mayo. But then I realized I wasn’t that happy with keeping raw eggs in mayo for the couple weeks it took to get through, so I went back to vegenaise, which even comes in chipotle flavor now. Many many years ago, when I was vegan, we used to get “nayonnaise” brand. Everything has to be a pun for some reason 😆.

Mouth-watering.

That looks absolutely delicious.

Mustard (a range of mustards?) and - perhaps, some apple sauce - not to mention sauerkraut, or coleslaw, (anything from the cabbage family), and/or pickles, would also work well with smoked pork belly.
