Was that pic taken before or after you ate it?
It looks like a heap of vomit… something you'd find on the pavement outside a pub early Saturday morning.
Well before. Right when I get home. And thats something you'd find at Checkers. Checkers Chilly Cheese Fries.

Up, up in my studio, studio
I dunno why, but hawaiian food just looks unappetizing! It is probably just my biases.

That Teri Beef Bun & Saimin combo and the Banana Pancake as posted by Mr. Kram look very interesting. To each his/her own. I've had people look at my lunch with disdain before...

Oh, and Krafty, did you use a utensil on those chili cheese fries, or just your fingers?

A couple of recent dishes:
Timbal of Israeli couscous with roasted red peppers and marinated artichoke hearts. Topped with pan seared shrimp and scallops. With a nice drizzle of fresh arugula pesto
Timbal.jpg

Got a couple of nice bunches of arugula. Gives the pesto a distinct flavor rather than the traditional basil pesto
Arugula.jpg

Lettuce roll ups. With a filling of lime poached shrimp, fresh salsa, avocado, chipotle pepper flakes and cilantro

Wow - good job! That all looks fantastic!

Seems like kind of a Vietnamese vibe going on... with the spring rolls and rice noodles?

I love that shrimp chilli oil stuff too! :)

Thanks! Hah, yeah, definitely Vietnamese going on with the pho and all... although the spring rolls are actually lumpia (Shanghai version), which is Filipino Chinese. Good stuff!

@fotog: that's a lot of cookies :eek:

Ok, I'll try the pho, never had it but leave out the eggs please. Then I'll have some of those lemon cookies from you foto and probably finish off with that shrimp thing in perrumpo's last pic, just the shrimp thingy though.

:D

But really, I wish I could cook as well as you two!

Sure is. I'm always having family and friends to my house for lunches or dinners. Nobody ever leaves hungry, thirsty or without a plate to take home. They must be good, because I always get requests :)

Are you putting in an order in with me? :p

Asian food is usually pretty easy to whip together. You could do it! Just gotta familiarize yourself with the foods.

You're in luck, there's no egg in pho. Traditionally, it's rice noodles, lime, Thai basil, bean sprouts, green onion, white onion, culantro, beef, and some other things if you like.

Don't like lobster?! haha. The shrimp thing is just steamed shrimp by itself. Well, with old bay of course. :D

Now I'm hungry...

Wow Perrumpo those dishes look absolutely beautiful! I wish some of meals looked half as good….

Thanks! :)

Took the afternoon off. Snowy day here. Perfect for having the oven on and cooking. Invited my bro and mom over for dinner:
Had some leftover scallops and arugula. Pan seared the scallops and served them with the arugula. The peppery flavor of the arugula complements the scallops nicely
Scallops.jpg

I've made this many times, but it's always a favorite. Mozzarella roll filled with fresh tomatoes, basil and garlic. With a drizzle of olive oil
MozzRoll.jpg

Perfect day for a roast. Balsamic marinated pork loin stuffed with roasted garlic and fresh rosemary. With a cracked peppercorn merlot reduction. Served with marsala braised pearl onions and baby carrots
Pork.jpg

Dessert was simple. Cranberry pistachio biscotti with some cordials and espresso
CranPistBisc.jpg

Great way to spend a winter's afternoon. Or any day for that matter. Family, good food, good drink and good times...

If you're looking to try something different,Italian cooking (especially home style) is some of the easiest and simplest cuisine out there. It consists of the most basic ingredients and the dishes you can create are amazing. You could do it..It's the food I made when I had my restaurant. If you're interested,I can send along some recipes that are simple yet you'd think it was this involved process. You could make them no problem!!!. The stuffed chicken breasts a few posts above post consist of six ingredients and take no time to make. Yet people think it's this involved recipe that takes hours.

You all look like fantastic cooks. But for the love of God, if I ever come over for dinner, I will kill you in your sleep if you put cilantro/coriander in anything. Just want to spread awareness for cilantro-haters across the globe!
