went to Camino in Oakland on the recommendation of a well known food blogger. it's a casual place with food that is sourced locally and fresh. the menu changes daily. supposedly the owners are ex Chez Panisse folk and they feature an open hearth and the familiar wood burning oven. the food was rustic and somewhat simple, but executed very well. the prices aren't bad considering the quality of food that you're getting.

Yep, Poutine. Had a big craving, and it's cheaper for me to make my own than it is to go to one of the Chip Wagon's in town.

I had the fortune to do a foie gras tasting days before the ban at The Firehouse in Old Sacramento.

it was very subtle. it gave the ice cream a hint of savory flavor, but it matched well with the sweet baklava.

I for one am glad that they banned it. Maybe veal will be next.
Both are quite inhumane.

you can say that for all the major meats we process - beef, chicken, pork. to each his own. any who, you can still bring your own foie to a restaurant for them to cook.

Enjoyed an iced coffee while preparing dinner:

Made some spiral cut preservative-free turkey dogs on the grill (aka rdowns dogs :p):

And for dessert, I took our new ice cream maker for a spin and made some vanilla ice cream:
