Was wondering about that.

You sure you were not just thinking about your next lens???

That's probably it. I have the 70-200 f/4L, it was my first piece of L glass because of it's price (as you know), so I don't think I'll really ever *need* to upgrade to the 2.8L IS.

I'm hoping it's the fact that I haven't gotten to use my 100-400 for a real shoot yet, and not my memory and recognition going out the window...

But I do want that MR-14EX macro ring flash :)

Canon Rebel XTI
18-55mm Kit Lens
50mm f/1.8

Once I get a job, I'm going to save for a flash (not sure which one yet) a 24-70mm, 10-20mm, 70-200mm and a 14mm.

Are you looking at Sigma lenses?

The 14mm is a $3,000 lens ($2,050 on Amazon) if you're looking at L lenses. I don't know that I'd spend that much on such a limited focal length. Unless you're shooting landscapes and nothing but, dropping that much cash on that lens really isn't worth it.

I'd grab the 16-35 (Like I just did) for less than half the price and get a little bit more flexibility.

Also depending on your necessity for a fast lens, I'd suggest looking at the 24-105mm f/4L in leu of the 24-70mm f/2.8L. Maybe rent both and see which you like more, but many find 70 lacking on the long end for a normal FL zoom lens.

Just some thoughts, take em for what they are. Definitely grab a 70-200mm (either the f/4L or f/2.8L IS) though, and trust me...once you start using it, you'll start dying for more FL. Tis why I grabbed the amazing 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L.

All of this is assuming you're looking at L glass from Canon...

The G9 is a stunning camera. It would be my first and only choice for a high-end P&S.

Also got my 16-35 f/2.8L USM II

Ah, Hurricane, you really are getting a respectable collection again, even after the thiefery (is that a word?). Nice!

I'll see if I capture a picture if the 50 f/1.4 arrives tomorrow, if not the picture'll wait.

It's stronger than ever ;)

I decided to put the insurance money towards the Mac Pro and my newest love (photography), so I've never had a better collection and it's only going to continue to grow.

My future list looks something like this:

Either a 50D or the soon-to-be-announced 5D MKII
135mm F/2L
24-70mm L (maybe)
MT-24EX Macro Ring Flash
And I'm thinking about upgrading my flash to the 580EX II :)

Need some stuff to take pictures of!

I think my 50mm f/1.4 may have a focusing issue. I don't really know what to do about that.

Ah, yes, the 50D. I would want that as well, since the camera I am using is an old 350D borrowed of my mother, we'll see what my money can afford. Maybe I'll go for the 40D as it'll hopefully fall in price as the big brother is announced!

I really do wish I had a job to get money from and such, I wouldn't mind at all having all the glass you got! ;)

There is rather much to take pictures of here in Sweden, sadly I am tired of the glass I am using, I got the same problem as you, but reversed. :/

About the 50mm, I'd tell Canon to fix it, since I guess.

All these super pricy gears, but where is the demonstration of photography skills? Let's see them.

I demand nudes in black and white, with post-modern, deconstructivist style -- very artistic.

If you, sir, get my thread closed you'll be hearing from my lawyers.

Chokladkakan: Come on over to the states and borrow some of my glass ;)

I really need to find somewhere new and interesting to go to take some pictures.

As for contacting Canon, I don't really know how I'd go about that, what'd I'd tell them, how I'd prove anything, etc.

Maybe it doesn't have any issues at all? Maybe I'm crazy! Who knows, I don't use it as much as my other glass lately so it may just be me needing to adjust to it's focus style. We'll see.

Has your lens arrived yet, Chokladkakan?

Oh, I would love to! I was over there last fall, sadly the money for traveling is quite... gone, now. :p

Yeah, I bet! With all that glass you could probably make stunning photographs of anything, you just need to find anything.

Well, true. I forgot you're not in Sweden; we can return anything (not food, though) that has a dissorder that causses the tool not to fullfill its duty in three years, if we didn't causs the problem our selves! (I wonder if this paragraph made any sense at all, I am rather tired).

I am afraid it hasn't... We'll see about tomorrow!
Whenever I order stuffs that doesn't need special sources of electrisity and stuff I order them from the states, straight to Volvo CE's headquarters in Asheville, having job mates of my brother and my father to get them here, which saves me alot! All IT-stuffs are like 60% there, compared to the prices in Sweden.

I finally got the lens today, and pictures will come when I am feeling better (fever and stuff), since I'm not at all in the mood of walking outside with the camera at the very moment.

Thought I'd post a bit of an update.

That focusing issue I thought I had? Well the lens' AF completely died on me the other night while out shooting some B&W. I contacted Canon on the 24th, still haven't heard from them. It came back to life but I'd rather have it checked out while still under warranty.

The new main body and 24-105mm f/4L

What am I eyeing for my next glass?
canon-ef-135mm-f-2l-usm.126134.jpg

I'm getting very interested in L primes. Which is bad. Because they're expensive. Very expensive.

And I'd also love some extension tubes for my EF100mm f/2.8

I am saving up for a 40D... One day..... I am hopping to order it with my future Mac Pro.

IMG_0685.jpg

This is my setup. It is pretty damn sweet and pics are amazing. I took a few videos of it and is breath taking quality for a picture camera. This is just about everything but a case and 8 GB SD Card.

I know, I know, there just boxes.

I'm interested in the G10 as a beginner camera, but most people recommended the D40. Do you think the G9 is a great entry-level camera?

I would say jump into a D40/XTi/XSi rather than starting with a G10, you'll have much more flexibility and abilities to advance your skills.

Agreed...unless you want to bring your camera everywhere with you.

The G10 is such a fun and convenient camera that it really is a DSLR lite. The only limitation is it's lens, but it even has some pretty cool accessories.

Depends on your need for convenience and price.

The G10 has features I wish my 5D Mark II had like the dedicated ISO and Exposure Comp dials. It's just a fun, fun camera. You can't go wrong with the G10.

I see. So it did seem fun at Best Buy, but I think I'll go for the D40 because of the selection of glass.
