The SD630 is popular, huh.

I sold my SD550 and got an SD630. I still have my old S400 although the lens doesn't extend all the way out when I turn it on anymore. I have to hold it out. Hm.

Minolta DIMAGE F100. One of the earlier "affordable" 4 megapixel compact cameras. I love it, but for the poor battery life on rechargables (just use lithium disposables instead) and the slooooow zoom lens...great pictures in a compact package, though. Pity they don't make its successor anymore.

I would Die to have one of those! Where did you get it?
It was originally in my stepmothers possession until she gave it to me. I don't quite know how she got a hold of it. She is Yu'pik Eskimo from Alaska and I think that some cameras were given out to take photos of possible soviet subs? or it could be that someone was in the European theater during the war and got a hold of one.

Been meaning to buy some film and try it out.

I'm in the market for a digital SLR, but am having a hard time deciding. My main concern is having a camera that will take AWESOME pics at concerts! I do alot of reviews, so I really need excellent picture quality in dark shots with crazy lights. Point and Shoot cameras just are not cutting it, so it's time to step it up. I think it's down to these four:
-Canon Rebel XTi (Black)
-Nikon D70
-Nikon D80
-Olympus EVOLT E500
Any advice?

Probably best if we don't clutter up this thread, but IMHO it's down to the D80 and XTi. Try them both- many people find the Rebel series feels cheap and too small. The D80 has excellent high ISO performance, particularly for 10mp. Very close to the XTi, but offers lower chroma noise, a very film grain-like rendition of noise, and multiple levels of selectable noise reduction, offering you freedom of choice.

The D70 is old, you'd be spending your money better with the D80/XTi. Olympus cameras use a much smaller sensor so noise performance will be poorer.

My Nikon D200+MB-D200 vertical grip, with the 300mm f/2.8D AF-S I (lens now sold).

61121312-L.jpg

My Nikon D2HS with my 200mm f/2.0G AF-S VR Super-ED, which is the best lens in existence. Despite being a bit shorter than the 70-200mm VR when neither lens has a hood on, it is just as wide as the 300mm f/2.8 and 200-400mm f/4, and weighs the same as the 300/2.8 and is only a bit lighter than the 200-400, which is nearly 2x as long.

My Vintage Nikon D1, which i'm converting to infrared and use for collecting/nostalgic reasons. No lens attached. That is the original styrofoam packaging.

84702007-M-1.jpg

Not pictured, but I also have a Nikon D70 hanging around, and several other lenses (Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8G DX, 28mm f/3.5 AI, 45mm f/2.8P 'pancake lens', 70-200mm f/2.8G AF-S VR) with more being added constantly in both body and lens categories. And a ton and a half of accessories for them.

My Nikons are excellent and I wouldn't trade them for...um...all the gold in Fort Knox....I would simply agree, take the gold, sell half of it, and buy back the cameras and lenses etc. and then go to town with the rest of the money ;)

This is the only one I have, with the 80-400 VR (which I don't really like.) The 70-200 2.8 is a better looking lens. :) There's also an SB-800 in the bag somewhere, and some other glass - but you just asked for the camera. :)
