It'll do until the two cable companies have finished fighting over who will provide service to my apartment block. This current connection is VDSL - I had no idea a phone line could be so good for Internet! :)

Here in Australia we're about to take a MASSIVE step backwards for connection speeds. A new government is likely to come in that is going to kill a national fibre infrastructure network and replace it with it's ugly sister, with the justification of "that's all you need" :(

It's official... new government in, now Oz is about to suffer another decade of poor internet

Just got this installed at home.

Finally proper stuff…

If you want my opinion claiming school Internet as your own is like saying some rental car is your daily.

Today is a good day!

The speed has exceeded 5% of the "up to" speed that the Government owned ISP claims. Such is life 900 km from the capital city of a partially developed country.

Well if students are living on campus, in a school which they possibly/probably pay for, and they have internet in their room, wouldnt that be their internet connection? Its like you are saying if someone rents an apartment for a few years, then the internet connection in the apartment is not theirs either

So funny how people can say meh over speeds of 80+ Mbps while in the US a lot of us are lucky to get over 20 for a decent price! Visiting my parents and they were paying $45 for DSL and not even getting 900 Kbps!!! It's a sad telco situation over here in the states, people in other countries really blow ours out of the water!

yup..... it's because we don't invest in infrastructure.Even in big cities we don't really have many options. We say no monopolies but cell phone, cable and internet companies have us by the balls. I have lived in CT, Boston, NYC and Houston. In all these places you had 1-2 options max and both are very expensive for crap internet.

Boston and NYC I lived with roommates and paid $100 for a triple play from comcast that gave me 50mbs/second and cable internet. Tho it jumps to $150 or 180 once the 1st year ends. You just switch it to your roommates name.

in CT 25mbp/s for $30 bucks which is not so bad on comcast. Jumps to 60 after 1 year tho again change the name.

Houston it was part of my rent and was not very fast.

My friends from Italy, Spain, Colombia and Argentina cry about there internet access but then tell me they pay $5-10 bucks a month for my speed. I hate to know how bad it is in the Kansas.
