The computer I use with Windows 3.1 is pretty old, but not terribly old. It's a full tower with a 200Mhz Pentium processor, a 515MB hard disk, and 64MB of RAM. It was made in '96. So I guess that would qualify as old hardware these days!
I know - cliché to have NYC as wallpaper but I just love the city so much and can't wait to get back there someday soon
Also - how do I add a pic in the post instead of as an attachment?

I also have computers running Windows 7 and 2000, along with Macintosh System/OS 6, 7, 8.5, and 9.2. I can post some of those desktops if y'all would like!
How well does it handle, given that 3.1 (and 3.11) tends to crap out and BSOD with any form of modern website?
I'm guessing you're also on Opera 6 for browsing? I assume this given that its the only browser for 3.1 capable of loading anything of a large size without crashing (and even then its worse quality than IE 5.

Just figured out how to mess with the background for notifications.
What's the path?
It's an app you can get, basically its a photo and they try to make it more realistic by having clouds move or the sun setting. It's done in such a subtle way and slowly (like over 20min) so it looks realistic. App is called Magic Window and I think it's may $1-2.
The path is Mac HD/System/Library/Coreservices/Notification Center
Once you find that it show package contents and then from there: Contents/Resources
The background is called linen and it is a tiff file. All you have to do is just replace that tiff file with another image saved as a tiff format (in preview you can export your image if need be as a tiff) and then open up activity monitor. From there just quit notification and it'll restart itself and click the notification tab to see your changes. The way the background works is that it tiles itself. So if you're using an image or something I tried keeping a minimum width of about 500 pixels or so and adjust it accordingly. Don't forget to save the original linen tiff
