I see no one has yet answered your question about the dock spacer, so if you're still interested here is the solution I use.
Download "LeopardDocks" (free app), and from the same website grab the dock called "Mountain Lion"
Run the Application and install the dock.

Thanks man! Found it! Gonna install it later :)

"One of these days... One of these days...
POW!
Right in the kisser!"

-Ralph Kramden
Ralph: For the last time, Alice, I'm telling you, I'm going for the $99,000 question.
Alice: For the last time, Ralph, I'll be very happy if you win the 600 bucks.
Ralph: $600? Peanuts, peanuts! What am I gonna do with peanuts?
Alice: Eat 'em, like any other elephant.

On topic, nice background. I see you are making that iBook your own!

Beige G3, this machine turned 15 late last year so is now half as old as the Macintosh itself :)

You say it is a G3 but it has a PPC G4 processor. How did you do that?! And did you get USB installed in it?!
I have an old beige G3. I'd like to get it functional and useful. Right now no USB and just OS 8.

I tend to have a folder or two on my Desktops named TidyUp or some such but I am only kidding myself. Random Crap is exactly what they contain. Usually they contain folders within folders within folders...

I'm a computer slob.

Here is the desktop of my Quicksilver. I tend to keep it clean, and I disabled the 3D dock because I only have a ATI Radeon 9000 in it right now. Perhaps when I mod a 9600XT then I will turn 3D back on. I may install office as well. I go back and forth on the backgrounds sometimes because I am a little picky :D.

You need a Sonnet Encore ZIF upgrade if you want to upgrade yours to a G4 - they are available in 500 Mhz G4 and 1 GHz G4 flavours. If you stick with the G3 processor then the latest OS you can run is 10.4 Tiger. For USB most standard PCI cards ie from a PC should work I believe, that is what is in mine.

Stick to NEC chip based USB cards. Those VIA ones are nothing but trouble.

My current one is a pic of the J-Class yacht Endeavour. A piece of art from an era of America's Cup sailing I wish we still had.

How well does Leopard run on it?

It's been running a little rough as of late. When I bought the device back in 2012 you wouldn't have been able to tell it was 7 years old. Very smooth. I suspect the hard drive is on it's last legs. Last night I did some serious maintenance to it, free'd up a bunch of space, deleted an old user account, ran pretty much every script in IceClean and it seems to have regained that umph it had. Leopard Webkit is running as fast as my C2D hack..
