How do you get the date and time on your desktop? I couldn't find it in Mac system preferences. Thanks

I think it might be GeekTool. I haven't yet used it, myself, but you can do some pretty amazing things with it. There used to be a thread on it here a couple of years ago.

For those who were asking about the time and date in my screen: I use Live Wallpaper, which is a paid app (available in App Store). However, Geektool is also a way to accomplish what Live Wallpaper does :)

BTW: Can we also share in this topic what you see in the screen? E.g. the icons you see in the menu bar etc.? I think it could be quite useful, discovering new apps this way!
