What I do is just find a geeklet and then copy/paste it in the command box. Most scripts are shell commands. Just drag it to your desktop.

Then paste whatever script you want into this box.

You'll get the hang of it. Took me a while to figure what I was doing. Here is a good site for scripts:

I was in the same boat as you when I first started. Basically you are looking at a bunch of simple Shell scripts. For most of the Desktops that we have or see on here, you will be able to simply Google the Shell script that you want to add. Once you open GeekTool, you can add a script and paste it in the designated area. You will also be allowed to change font, color, etc.

Rather simple once you look it up; I wish I could help more but I am still no expert by any means! Good luck!

So when I do this, I wont be able to use my original wallpaper?
I just went to the site you linked for me, and thank you by the way, but it seems as if, the site is giving me options for various wallpapers, not various sorts of clocks and weather things...?

All I want is to be able to use whatever wallpaper I want, but have a nice clock/calendar on my wallpaper as well, is this possible?

You will be able to add the Shell to any wallpaper of your choice. You will find that most people on here, myself included, enjoy the wallpaper from Interfacelift.com - Great snapshots, and very clean!

Yes, it won't effect your wallpaper unless you change it yourself. I think your getting confused because users post their desktops, not just what geeklets they have running. Your welcome matey. As for putting a calendar that's super easy. I'll give you instructions below.

Picture instructions below.

After you make a shell, type this in the command box: cal

Then, your going to have to change your color to white or any viewable color depending on whether your desktop is bright or dark. Hit the: "Click here to set font and color" button

And your done! Your calendar should like this after the last step:

ScreenShot2012-06-26at103456PM.png

Now for the clock. Here's the command. date "+%l:%M:%S" You can get rid of the seconds by deleting the percentage [%] and the s.

Make sure this is set to 1.

As before, hit the "Click here to set font and color" button. And change to white or black. I'm guessing your wallpaper is bright so make it black, or any dark color.

Final result:

Wow! Thank you!
Another question, how do I get a clock that looks like...futuristic?
Some people who have posted their desktops here have clocks that look very nice... ?

----------

-> Dock: Mirrage / Photoshop
-> Date: Geektool
-> Weather: Geektool
-> Menubar: Nocturne
-> Album Covers: Bowtie

How do I get the date and time like yours? I have geektool now... but its not exactly self explanatory haha.

Plain and simple for me right now - Although I change it quite often. I'm not a fan of using the calendar and having the date so large, just seems redundant to me

This is way more complicated that involves editing scripts. I'm afraid this is where I must leave you.

I really need to change my mission control background to something better. Right now it's just some cement, lol. Anyone have any cool ideas?
