2010 Jaguar XJ

How can ANYONE like that car? Seriously. The current XJ looks like the new Ford Mondeo from the rear and a Korean/Japanese mad horror from the front. People only pretend to like it to show that they "support" the British car industry. Chances they will only get worse...

Yea. I know Jaguar is trying to become a bit revolutionary but common, you have to preserve at least the XJ. That thing has been around for ages and has hardly changed. That new face lift is too much for such a classic car. They've taken away its elegance and stateliness and have replaced it with something that doesn't look anything like a jaguar.

Is that a concept or is that the actual replacement?

Have to agree. I haven't really liked the Jags in recent years. Even the XK looks like it has a Chrysler grill.

Tata owns Jaguar now so it remains to be seen what they do with it.

I'm liking that Design. I cannot stand the old design of the Vanden Plus Jaguars. Besides, Jaguars from the last 20yrs have not been good enough to be considered classics or earn a mainstay design. This can get them there. By 2010/2014 I'm sure it'll look pretty cool in retrospect - the Cadillac CTS-V looks wicked but too many sharp edges, kill it for me.

Nah man time to upgrade. R12!

I used to love the BMW M3 but since the 2007 redesign (I love the 2004 M3 the pinnacle of its design); I just couldn't date the M3 in my dreams any longer. The Audi S4 has my heart now. Man you gotta hear one of these engines!!!

But if money is no object ....

I can DEFINATELY see myself speeding along the DVP/401/HWY #7/ or on my way to Barrie in this speed demons chair.

Oh yeah I love this car more than ANY Ferrari I've ever seen - The White Testarossa from Miami Vice has a nostalgia that I just cannot shake.

And even with the GT500KR they still don't give the Mustang a decent suspension.

If I had to choose a one, I'd rather go with a Roush. They know how to make it into a car that handles properly. But for what they're asking, I'd trade my '05 M3 and get this:

Porsche 997 GT3 RS

What is a Vanden Plus Jaguar :p

Vanden Plas was a coach builder, then they were merged with Jaguar, got mixed around, and somehow ended up as just a trim level of the higher priced Jaguars, usually the extended wheel base ones which are uggggllyy.

Personally I love the current XJ series.

An Elise for a daily driver? You're nuts man, those cars are so basic inside and can be somewhat uncomfortable to drive everyday. The M3, however, is a great choice. I do like the Elise those, great weekend car with pretty good gas mileage.

+1
The Elise is a great track car, but would seriously suck as a daily driver.

ARe you kidding me? I'd love an elise as a daily driver. Nothing is more relaxing that having nothing in the car and just focusing on the road. As long as the seat is comfortable there is nothing wrong with it at all. I don't need the comforts of the M3 to have a good time on the road.

I'd have one of these.

But with the state TVR are in (does anyone know if they are still trading?) it's probably not possible if I could afford it.

Apparently TVR were launching a 600bhp Typhoon (not to be confused with the Typhon) but that was in 2007 and I only found out about that while looking for the 440R pic above.

TVRs although not the greatest build quality, are some of the best looking and highest performance cars on the road at reasonable prices too. The 440R pictured will go 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds and top speed is over 215mph and doesnt even top £100k. Shame they only made one because of the crap running of the business.

Have you even been in an Elise? It's very bare-bones and not meant to be a regular road-going car. Ingress and egress are difficult, the ride is hard and low, and any passenger you take will be very uncomfortable.

You will love it as a daily driver at first (for the exoticness of it), but will get tired of it very quickly. As a weekend/track car it's perfect -- it was never meant to be a daily driver. I know several people who have an Elise. None use it daily. There's a good reason for that.

Personally, I think the Elise is wasted if you aren't going to track it. That's where it shines. I'll keep my M3 -- that does double duty as a daily and track car very nicely. On public roads you won't get anything out of driving an Elise that you don't get out of an M3 without endangering others.

This reminds me of all the 996 GT3s that sold some years ago. For some reason it was a fad to have one, but that died out quickly when all the football players, etc. realized it's awful for daily use, especially if you have a large frame.

As far as I remeber they were bought by a Russian tycoon they produced a few new very nice cars based on the old models and then disappeared completely.

A world without a TVR is quite sadly a step closer to a place were everyone seems to be driving exactly the same thing in grey.

To each his own I guess, I have been in an elise, and I love the feel of it, the simplicity. I could drive it every day and it would put a smile on my face. I guess that is what I look for.

The porsche would be gotten first and forehand though, as it is my #1 car ever, the GT2. :)

I agree with you on your comments about the car. It is a great car. But I personally could not drive it every day (maybe I'm just too old).

For me the E46 M3 has just the right balance of high performance and practicality to make it an ideal daily driver. I can take it on road trips with my wife, drive it to/from work and the store, and run it at the track on weekends, all without making any changes -- it's great in all these cases. Honestly, I'd be happy keeping it until it self destructs from age, but I will test drive the new M3 Coupe when my dealer has one with the double-clutch gearbox.

(for you guys that like them) there are 4 of those audi r8's in a 100meter radius of here. I get tired of them. They are everywhere here in western europe.

I like Audis though, fine cars. I just drove a few different ones two weekends ago all around Germany. My favorite car is the Porsche 911turbo or GT2. I'd also love to have a GT3 to beat around the track.

oh and screw the e46 :) get an e36 :) and tune the hell out of it
