I agree with you on your comments about the car. It is a great car. But I personally could not drive it every day (maybe I'm just too old).

For me the E46 M3 has just the right balance of high performance and practicality to make it an ideal daily driver. I can take it on road trips with my wife, drive it to/from work and the store, and run it at the track on weekends, all without making any changes -- it's great in all these cases. Honestly, I'd be happy keeping it until it self destructs from age, but I will test drive the new M3 Coupe when my dealer has one with the double-clutch gearbox.

Definitely agree about the Lotus. I'm in the 18-25 age range and there is no way you'd catch me driving one daily, wayyy too barebones and definitely not the ride and features I want driving to work everyday. I'll take huge padded heated seats, a nice paddle shifting tranny, and more forgiving suspension anyday for my daily commute.

I'm with you on the M3, the E46 is a sweet car, my dream car that I may be able to actually afford in the next 5 years is one of the new M3 coupes or maybe a 335 convertible depending on where I'm living.

Saw an Audi R8 for the first time today as well, very sweet car, even nicer in person.

or the new upcoming redesign of the 350z, the 370. (As long as it's good looking ;))

Look at the 135i too. That will be one quick and agile car.

My wife got to ride for a hot lap on the Road Atlanta track in an Audi R8 when we were there for Petit Le Mans last year. I was in front of her in a 997 GT3. Both driven by race drivers, up to 140 MPH. She was grinning ear to ear after getting out of the car. It is a sweet car.

BMW 125i cabrio, but in black, not like the picture.

Realistically, a 135i, maybe in less than 5 years I will own one. I test drove a 128i and it handles amazing, and my gf ordered a 128i just last night. But my dream will be a M5, F430 and Exige.

I drove that M5 (and the M6) at the 2-Day M school in Spartenburg, SC. It is amazing how fast and agile it is for a 2 ton beast. If you get a M5 consider doing the Performance Center delivery and the M driving school.

Quality - I did that last year as well. Actually, it was a one day abrieviated version. Didn't get to drive the M6 (fleet was rained on with the windows down :( ). I thought I was going to dislike the M5, but it was so much fun and easy to drive. That was only getting it to around 80mph too! Ran out of road... Didn't like the Z4 M Coupe as much, but I'd be interested to drive it again.

from what i see, that image is the new 2009 gtr, skyline. same carbon colored nose & i see "gtr" in the nose grill.

however, like you said the new 370z will look rather similar. . .the back window gives it away as the skyline though, not as sleek & soft as the 370z concept which has less hard edges as the new skyline.

There hasnt even been an official concept or announcement of the redesigned Z car yet, it's not expected until the LA Auto Show later this year.

It's nice to see how peoples tastes range. Some are reaching for the stars and others have modest aspirations. :D

I have always wanted an E-Type......I'd love to get his paintjob on it too, it would drive me wife nuts (she's a Flatlander), but I'd quite happily accept it in racing green too! ;)

Datsun 280z

Might make a lot of folks laugh, but I used to own a 280z and I just loved that car.... always regretted selling it and would love to own one again....

I'd have one of these.

But with the state TVR are in (does anyone know if they are still trading?) it's probably not possible if I could afford it.

Nope - they went bust. Great cars to drive, but not what you'd call reliable....

I had a Datsun 240Z when I was 19. What a blast. Guess it was a precursor to getting a M3 (and I had to wait nearly 30 years more to do that).

Since I just can't narrow it down to one vehicle:

Currently I have:

Yeah I could definately go with this as a daily doing groceries, hauling the kids to school - in coolness style - testing the speed limits & ramp limits on the way to work; or just going up north this weekend camping. Oh yeah.:apple:

Why oh why can't these beautiful car companies just give us the fuel capacity & new engines for BioFuels or complete electric or Hydrogen? Why must I look like a jellybean or a self-absorbed noddle just to be environmentally conscious while driving my car?! Anyone have any links to progress in BioDiesel or BioFuels as being a relevant alternative to gasolines?? Thanks.

am I seeing things?

... or are nice sport-luxury cars getting too much alike?
