Hifiman RE0. Worth every penny.

...and then some! :)

I have a pair too and they are excellent.

These are mine (but not my picture :)) They are Ableplanet Clear Harmony's... I think they are great and have a wonderful sound. But I only paid a little less than half of retail :D

Do you use an amp? I bought the Fiio E1 (hasn't shipped yet) but I'm wondering if maybe I should get something a bit better.

I use a Head-Direct/HifiMan EF2 with the stock tubes swapped out for M8100s. I really like them amped with this one and I've tried them on an NAD integrated which was much more powerful but seemed less clear. The EF2 or similar desktop amps should be an improvment over the E1 but I have no first hand experience with the E1 as the EF2 is my first headphone amp.

Well I just got my E1. It's definitely an improvement for upper end clarity although a little more bass might be nice. I'm sure the EF2 is a really nice amp. I don't see myself getting a desktop amp because even if it costs a little more for a portable I'm on the move often enough for it to be worthwhile.

Interesting... FWIR, the E1 should offer more of a bass boost than the EF2. Anyway, I think the RE0 is great unamped as well, I see it as a bonus that it scales well with improvements further up the equipment chain.

ok got two things.

i just upgraded my internal drive to 500gb, and that means i can put my music library on it. i brought it to school today and used my beyer headphones, awesome.

i went to the Microsoft store to play some games (killing time, apple doesn't have any games) and i used these pairs of shures and they were horrid. the sound was flat, really flat. they were really really light ( full cans ) which i guess is a good thing.

Never have been a big fan of sure. Personally I think they are overrated. Now it just might have been the game, but I'm with you on the overall sound that sure's produce

Well, they were probably monitor phones. Flat is valued for what they were made to do.

Well, I just bought myself a pair of Shure SRH840 which I received yesterday.

I'm busy with the burning in but I already love the sound.

I had the Apple In-Ears with Remote, which I really loved as well but I wanted a nice headphone.
I have been waiting for over a year to buy a set.

Recently I was in doubt whether to buy the Dr Dre Beats or the Shure, but eventually chose the Shure's.
The looks of the Dr Dre's are absolutely stunning but I hate the fabric, it's so poor-made while the Shure's are made to last.
I also hated the fact the Dre's had batteries inside.

Finally, after reading through truckloads of reviews I was convinced by this one -http://themacfeed.com/2009/11/review-shure-srh840/ -and I'm glad I bought these ones.
And they are so extremely comfortable!

For everday use, I wear the Ultimate Ears MetroFit 170
B001NTDGQC_170_Hero.jpg

I know there are much better/pricier headphones out there, but I think for the money, I did about as good as I good could have. Plus, I have a problem with ear buds not staying in my ear, and these seem to fall out the least out of all the pairs I've owned.

I've got another pair I'll wear for work/editing coming to me, but they were a gift from my job, so I don't know exactly what type they are yet.

I want a Chu Moy headphone amp in an Altoids tin with enough space to house my HD555's ridiculously oversized 1/4"–1/8" jack adapter.

Those UE look so nice, my only complaint is that they are so damn expansive ...

I used to use JVC headphones, dont know which one exactly, but they were awesome, and pretty inexpansive too

Keep an eye out at Best Buy. When I bought them, the guy said they have them on sale pretty frequently. I paid for them with a gift card, and ended up only paying $60 (I think), but as good as they sound, I probably would have paid the full amount with my own money.

Looks like a pair of WeSC Maracas

Can't you just build one with that? So instead of a 1/8", use an 1/4" plug…
That's a very good idea, should've thought of that. I can't solder anyway so I have to get my friend to help me.

How would you guys rate Sennheiser overall? My company started offering them, and I was thinking about getting a pair. I just use some 50 euro Sony headsets now. Will I hear that big of a difference?

Overall they're alright… I've only used their high-end cans, so it's hard to say how their low-end models are.

It depends on what you're willing to spend. The higher end stuff can be really good if a little pricey. In ears like the top of the line IE8 are really great, and bassy too.
