Killyp, you need to clean your room! ;)

I cleaned it 8 times this morning, and I'm cleaning it again right now as we speak. After this, I'm going to steam the carpet and re-paint all the walls.

*eye twitches*

I just checked and they have these at IKEA Canada. Each one is only $9 CAD. My desk is in sore need of some lighting...:(

I just got this new desk lamp from IKEA yesterday and I already forgot the name. Anyway, it was only $19 CAD. I like the way it focuses the light.

I'm taking my first trip to an actual Ikea store on Monday. I was supposed to head there this last Monday, but my friend had to cancel. She was too busy getting ready to drive across the country.

I was thinking about getting a desk. I am pretty sure I'm going to pick up a swivel chair (and recommendations?) and a desk lamp. Should be good times.

I see your point, but I look at these threads to get ideas for setting up my Mac, arranging the furniture in my room, and also, I just enjoy looking at what other people do to their home. I just like design.

Agreed... I browse through these setups looking for inspiration to change my computer setup- and knowing what kind of stuff is available in the market which can make life easier.

How does it taste? I hardly order any foodstuffs from IKEA; although, I did try their hot dogs, once, and it was terrible.

Well for 99cents, they taste pretty darn good I must say... After having the first one, me and a couple of friends purchased about $20 worth of those chocolates.... people did give us a strange look while checking out from the store with nothing but 20 chocolates...

I particularly like their broken goods section, that's where I bought two glass closet doors for $5 each and built a dining room table out of them.

I think most of their stuff is pure crap, but here's something I'd like to purchase from IKEA.

Just bought a galant desk and am having trouble putting in the regular screws. It goes through a thin metal frame and into the board with pre-drilled holes with white plastic inside. The farthest they seem to go is half way. Can anyone help me?

This happened to me as well with my VIKA AMON. I had to bust out the hand drill and slowly and softly drill it out a little bit. It seems the saw dust left in the holes stop the screws from getting down in there.

I just bought the Moses swivel chair and had a bad experience to go along with it. The chair on the display floor leaned back. When I got mine and put it together, it did not. I emailed Ikea to tell them of the confusion (and yes, I'm 100% positive I didn't imagine all this) and then sent an automated response telling me to check out the online catalog. Well, I responded to the automated response and typed a HUGE long email telling them again of the confusion and they finally wrote back and told me to take it in and have it inspected for defects. Love the store, just a bit irritated that they want me to drive another 2 hours there just to have the chair looked at. I think I'll pass. I already had to take a second trip down just to get it as they were out of stock the first time.

Try their Swedish meatballs the next time you are at IKEA (when in Rome. . . .) You won't get many other opportunities in the US to eat lingon berry sauce with hamburger meat!

So I'm looking to buy a whole load of stuff from IKEA!

One of the main things I need is a couch, but I figure a sofa-bed would be a good idea for visitors since I just moved to a new country. Has anybody got any experience with IKEA Sofa beds? Not really interested in a futon... cause it'll probably only be used as a bed once every couple of months.

There's not a great selection, but VRETA looks pretty decent?

My worry is that like lots of combined products, I'll end up with a crap sofa and a crap bed.

Edit: on closer inspection, that's a leather couch! I don't really want one of those.
