Crate and Barrel "Pathway" bed

Hello,

We are thinking about buying the "Pathway" bed from Crate and Barrel and are wondering how you like it (has it held up well). Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

i forgot about this thread :) my move-in to the new apartment is in 2 weeks and:

after getting on a malm and "simulating" some nocturnal activities we decided to go for something better and ended up with the Pathway bed from Crate+Barrel:

but we are still going to get a few Ikea PS metal cabinets in red:

at least one expidit bookshelf in black/brown:

and i need to get a desk, which since the large jerker i wanted to get is now discontinued will end up being a galant desk:

Obviously you're not a golfer.

its been fantastic. sturdy, looks great, modern without being hyper expensive. i am a big guy (275+) and i was worried when i saw it in my bedroom all set up that the slatted system was going to be too weak for my body weight, but its been great for sleeping and more active experiences.

after a week of getting used to the bed being kind of "springyer" than a normal mattress+boxspring i absolutely love it - i would never go back to a mattress+boxspring again.

Ikea is such a good brand but it's incredibly cheaply made.. I have a desk that recently broke I've only had for 2 months :(

Their customer service is nothing amazing, but the staff were at least a little helpful when I went. I got a JONAS desk:

It's actually really well put together (by meeee), and pretty sturdy. Looks the bees knees tho imo...

Yeah, I have to agree, it does look good. It's a shame that the place in which my table goes is too small for that!!

Practically my entire bedroom and computer desk area stuff is from IKEA.

Where else can you find an easy to assemble, gorgeous-with-Apple-products looking desk for 30 bucks?

I don't have any pictures but when me and my friends moved into our flat we went to Ikea to get a few things like desk chairs and realised that EVERYTHING already in here is Ikea! It was so weird walking round the shop and being like we have that...and that...AND that... lol. I do love it though! I also saw a lot of posts about the Mikael desk in the dark colour and thought oooooh I would love that for when I move, then looked on the site and realised the one I have been using in this flat is the birch version! It's an awesome desk :)

This thread is cool. I just moved into my own place and I want to make it look nice, so I've been doing research on furniture for a while. Right now I'm really wanting a desk, but it is *impossible* to find a good desk! Spent a whole Saturday looking and came up with nothing. Staples/Walmart/Target/Office Depot/Office Max do have a couple nice models but then there's that cheap cardboard in back I hate. The high end furniture stores have the most awful desks ever and they cost $2-3k! There was one from Staples I was considering ordering but then I stumbled across Ikea...

I guess right now I'm looking at the Galant system. I would really like to make a nice big desk out of it but I don't have as much space as I'd like. :( No Ikea here in Charlotte yet, so going to order it online (there is one coming in Spring 2009 really close to me which is sweet). Closest one now is Atlanta. At first I had stuff picked out for my whole bedroom but I was talking to some people about it and they said it'll fall apart easily, so not sure if I want to bother... I'm really liking the Malm series though.

But for now, I do want the Galant desk. Just can't decide how much I want to extend it, but probably starting with the corner desk-left for the base. Is the keyboard holder any good? Enough room for that and a trackball? Is the computer holder stable? My computer is quite heavy so I was thinking it'd be best to put it on the ground to prevent wear and tear. It says it holds up to a 19" monitor... does that mean a huge CRT? I'm wanting to buy a 30" soon... but that'll be a LCD so I imagine it'll be a lot lighter.

Seen some setups using pegboards to organize wires and whatnot... I'll have to look into that.

Oh, the Jonas desk and Fredrik desks both look nifty too.

What color would go best with a dark wall color? Wanting to paint my room a black with a lot of gray/blue in it... somewhere around there. Birch veneer/beech veneer/black-brown? And Malm can also come in oak veneer... I wish Galant could, that's a nice color.

The table and chairs, TV stand, coffee table, and stacked end tables in the corner are all ikea. NO idea which ones.
