To be honest, I can't recall ever seeing any purple flare on any iPhone I've had lol - sure it exists, but maybe I've just been lucky or just not noticed!

Is that Sabino Canyon? I just took some photos with my iPhone 5 that look very similar minus the annoying glare.

Not sure where Sabino Canyon is, but this picture was taken on Oregon Pipe Cactus National Monument, near the small Arizona town of Ajo, AZ. Basically it's BFE.

Your lucky, it's too damn easy to trigger even on grey days with no visible sun :/ after the annoying green of the 4 camera under certain lighting, the 4S was about perfect. The 5 is about as bad as the 4 with the purple.
