Why, it's only about 2 hours of actual usage? Because of the standby time? Big deal.

Why? i only posted it as someone suggested i was not getting these sort of figures. Are they good, bad, in-different?

Currently at 35% battery left
Usage - 2hours 28 mins
Standby 2 Days 17 hours

Will post another pic tonight to show what is happening then.

D

My apologies for insulting you in any way. It just seems battery life is all over the place with these things. 2 1/2 days of standby and 2 hours of use is pretty hight with 45% left. What were you using it for if I can ask?

I had a little over 5hr usage and over 24 hours standby. I had to recharge it over night.

That seems a bit more in line with the norm.

Mine as of right now is..

72% left
Usage: 1h 29m
Standby: 4h 23m

Thats browsing on 3g mostly, 3g calling, emails and some gps (5mins). Everything default. Wifi search - off.

I have a 3G and get that, so I wouldn't think that's the norm for a 3GS. I was expecting double for a 3GS, so 10 hours maybe for usage and maybe 2 days to have to recharge.

No insult at all.
I have 3G on all the time and location. During the battery circle there has been a lot of checking and sending emails.

I am going to post up another pic shortly, have been using the ipod side of things for about 1hr today, so the usage has gone up. Like i say will post up pic later.

To be honest i have been pleased with battery life overall. Yes it could be better but if i charge overnight every 2-3 days i think that is not bad at all.

You get what?

It seems my own battery life is all over the place. After I posted that, I went on an errand and used the maps app to guide me. My battery was down to 43% from 72% within an hour. That included a couple phone calls in total about 5 minutes.

So, unless gps/maps sucks battery life - I don't know what to make of this anymore.

I normally get 5 hours of usage a day, and by the end of the day my % (using a third party app to check battery meter %, since I have a 3G and not JB) is 20%. I charge at night, and have about 19 or so hours of standby (before I charge).

How is the current period the same as the lifetime period? Isn't that a bit messed up? I notice that on all of these screen shots.

Current period should be the call time for either the day or the charge period. Lifetime is of course, all the calls the phone has ever made.

How can they both be the same?

because our phones are new and the current period has never been reset? Mine is the same also

lifetime wont change, if you restore from a previous iPhone it will put that info onto it also.

It should not be the same.

Lifetime will always remain and get larger as it tracks the use of the phone over it's "lifetime". However current period should be resetting everytime the phone is charged fully or the date changes. Something. It should NOT match the lifetime.

Yes, it should match your lifetime counter if it has never been reset.
It's there so you can manually reset it, if you want, every bill cycle so you can keep track of your minutes and data.

I had the original iPhone back in 07 and was very happy with the battery life. Last year I did the upgrade to the 3G and suddenly my battery life was much shorter since I was using 3G data and GPS a lot. I'm using the app B.iCycle - GPS cycling computer a lot and because of the combination of GPS, 3G and display always on this is good test for battery life.

Since I have the 3GS now I'm happy again. With the 3G I could get about 3 hours B.iCycle use now I can get about 4.5 hours.
