I use a logo of my favorite sports team. I just found a good logo online copied it to the correctly sized photoshop document and made the background the same color blue as in the logo. I did the same for my iPad and iMac and i like it.

Solid white on my silver/white phone to contrast the sea of people doing solid black. So clean and bright, but it takes a nice even white screen to do, which this phone has - most even color screen I've ever had. Also Verizon seems to have removed their name from the top of the screen the past week or so:
