Solid white on my silver/white phone to contrast the sea of people doing solid black. So clean and bright, but it takes a nice even white screen to do, which this phone has - most even color screen I've ever had. Also Verizon seems to have removed their name from the top of the screen the past week or so:

Just curious how you handle turning on the screen in a dark room after your eyes have adjusted to the darkness.

My home screen and lock screen are both photos which I have taken and which are not "busy" so that there is plenty of opportunity to see and easily read what is on there in terms of notifications, etc.

Usually the only time that happens is in the morning when waking up, but that means that the night before I probably had the brightness way down right before bed and nightshift might still be on too when I wake up, so not usually a problem. But if I do forget to turn the brightness down and wake up, I just tilt the phone away for a second and turn the brightness down.

Black! I have the black background on the home screen. On my xr. I like that for some reason. My lock screen is the two red planets coming together. I know boring but I kinda like a black background.
