I'd been contemplating a purchase of a PS3 for a while, and decided now is the time. But, I didn't want just any old PS3. I really like the work that Colorware does. The hardest part was choosing the color. I wanted to get Yellow with Black trim, to show my Iowa Hawkeye colors. But, a friend of mine has an iPod Touch in this same Orange, and its just awesome. Its very bright and vibrant. It looks great, and contrasts nicely with the Black Xbox 360 Elite sitting next to it.

To go along with it, I got some games, and a couple movies. For games, I got Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Uncharted and Warhawk. Then for movies, I got the NIN - Beside You In Time live concert disc, and Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds at Radio City. The other two discs are the ones that came with the PS3, those being Spider-Man 3 and the PS3 info/demo disc.

So far, I'm very happy with the purchase. The games are great. I'm a big fan of both the MGS and GT series, so those games are great. But, Uncharted is just amazing looking and pretty fun. And Warhawk is just a blast. I have a few other games that I got on the PSN, but I don't have anything physical to show for them. I got Flow, Echochrome, Super Stardust HD, PixelJunk Monsters and PixelJunk Eden. All of them are very fun, in their own different ways.

The movies are really nice. You think you know what you're getting when you move up to Blu-Ray. But, until you actually get it in your home, and watch it in your own living room where you've watched everything up until then, you don't realize just HOW awesome it really is. The NIN concert disc is just AMAZING!! I love NIN, but its just spectacular how great this looks. The Dave and Tim show is good. Its nothing special to look at, what with it just being two guys on stage playing guitar and singing songs. But it sounds great and is nice to put on while doing other things around the house.

Overall, I'm very happy with it. There are a few things that are hard to get used to with such a long comfort period with the Xbox. But, it's great so far, and I'll gladly get used to it.

Love that color...very cool! And I agree on the NIN disc. It's what I use to show off what Blu-Ray looks like to guests and friends. And I love the Saul Williams quote in your sig!:)

Applecare. My MBP warranty was running out this week. I wouldn't normally purchase a computer warranty, but with a laptop the choice isn't as clear. I'll be keeping it for a few years so I thought it was worth it.

SevenInchScrew: you live in Omaha?! I thought I was the only person on here in Nebraska besides maybe 1 other person. Well, that's all I really have to say for now, ha.

Wow. This is sweet.
Thank you.
What kind of television do you have?
I actually don't have them hooked up to a "TV" so to speak. I use a BenQ G2400W monitor (I have an EyeTV on my Mini, does that make it count as a TV? ;)). It has 1920x1200 resolution, and will scale things from 480i to 1080p correctly. So, when the PS3 switches back and forth on resolution, as it's known to do, this monitor will take it and scale it in the proper aspect full screen. My Mac Mini is going to the DVI, while the PS3 and 360 both share the HDMI input. I just swap the cable between whatever console I'm going to play, and leave the other plugged in to the monitor. Here is a quick pic of it, but I have some more pics of the monitor in an old post in one of the "Show Your Setup" threads....

1 - Thank you
2 - I've seen them twice, with a third coming in Nov. This disc just reaffirms why I love them so much.
3 - He is THE MAN when it comes to lyrics.

Thank you. I play a decent amount of games, but lately it was almost all exclusively 360. The Live ecosystem just makes gaming with friends so easy. I don't hate Sony or anything, I just didn't see anything that made me want a PS3, until lately that is. Now finally, there are a good deal of great games, with more coming this fall. I REALLY can't wait for Little Big Planet. That game will rule my life for months.
