I just recieved my Solarmax 90 Solar Telescope in the mail. I know I posted about this a few days back but I figured I would post a few pics of it in the flesh. The thing is just so awsome and I finally have it. The 25 year wait is finally over. I just placed my order yesterday for a Binoviewer, some higher quality eyepieces and my CCD camera with imaging software (Adaptive optics!!!!!!!).

First here are some pictures of the Solarmax 90.

The case, a total piece of crap for the price of the scope. I will definitely be upgrading to a much nicer case so tack another 300-400 dollars on to the total cost.

The shipping box (Much bigger than I anticipated), and my massively overweight cat!!

Overhead shot with my feet (Size 10.5) for more scale. Like my mismatched socks, lol. Yeah I was in a hurry this morning.

There ya have it. I am ready to make some serious photo of the sun. I am a very happy man indeed today.

Best album this year... I'll be at one of his concerts next week!!

As for my purchases:

And Columbia convertible pants:

You should give Mountain Hardware convertible pants a try. I used to wear Colombia myself and then last year decided to order a couple pairs of Mountain Hardware pants and they blew me away. I have since sold all of my Colombia pants on eBay and now have a closet full of Mountain Hardware pants. I recommend the Mesa Convertible and especially the Matterhorn convertible. I actually just ordered 3 pair of Matterhorn from Altrec. Plus I love their colors like Moonstone and Dirt. I would recommend ordering 1 pair of Matterhorn to see what you think. Trust me, you wont be disappointed. They are awsome and incredibly comfortable and damn good looking too.

Here is a pic of the Matterhorn.

I'm on ur carpet, creepin on ur telescopz.

Nice piece of hardware!

Thanks, my cat actually hasnt come out of that long shipping box since I took the scope out. She just loves boxes. In all honesty I was surprised she fit. She needs a serious diet.

Looks pretty damned cool.

Looking forward to seeing some images!

They are coming. Might take me a little bit before I am making quality pictures worthy enough to show but ill be shooting soon. The fact that adaptive optics is now available to everyone at home is unbelievable and it will certainly translate to significantly higher quality pictures from people like myself. Cant wait to get to it!

Yup. $17.99 each. CAD. I now have three pairs. One's for a friend. Not sure what to do with the second pair; I got them just because they were such a good deal! The first pair I purchased months ago were $13. I'm fairly sure these are either refurb or something like that, but they have no markings. They're repackaged, come with all the accessories, and even have sticker covers on the metal bits on the headphones. And they work, look, and smell (whew) new.

Crappy iPhone picture.

I have these in green. I love them.

Very nice. There is nothing like learning how to play the guitar. Looking back at my life its one of the things I am most thankful I took the time to do. Just make sure you set at least a little bit of time everyday to play and before you know it youll be strumming away.

Good luck and again very nice purchase.
