My Black Friday purchases, love em all!!

Gamestop - Waited out side @ 4:45 for them to open at 6, but only one lady went to stand in line at 5:15 and they let her in to buy so I went in right after her. They opened up at 5am instead of 6 so i wasn't complaining. So i got the PS3 bundle that included God of War 1 & 2 and Little Big Planet

Good Black Friday all in all, my PS3 convinced my mom to buy the same bundle for her, seeing that I headed home today taking the prizes with me :p

After debating between a 360 and a PS3, finally went with a PS3. The free WiFi, online play, and Blu-Ray did it for me. Picked up GTA4 too and wanted COD: Modern Warfare 2, but they were sold out. So happy with it :)

Congrats, although i'm primarily a 360 guy for gaming i'd be lost without my PS3 for blu ray. That been said my two favourite games of this generation are on PS3, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves. Now they where something special.

and as a huge, huge Final Fantasy fan i plan to experience Final Fantasy 13 on the PS3 next year, oh and the amazing looking Heavy Rain :D

yesterday and today...

Time to upgrade the drives...

2TB for iTunes library... G-Tech GD42000

1TB for Time Machine... G-Tech GD41000

And a little something for the ears. The album sounds good so far; especially track 2 "Crawl"...

that sucks...

I hope you have better luck with G-Tech than I did. Mine has been anything but reliable.

That sucks to hear. I did a fair bit of research before buying these drives and the vast majority of the reviews came back quite positive. I hope your drive (sorry to hear about it) was one of the anomalies.

What were the problems with it?

Was time for a new phone, and Cellular South had a great deal down here. Picked up the HTC Hero and am learning my way around it. This picture was actually taken with the phone, FWIW.

The $8.99 deal. I'm thinking if I should add Blu-Ray, but I don't think I'll ever have DVD's/Blu-Ray come to the house... I'm more of an Online person. It's cheaper than renting movies from iTunes, RedBox, BlockBuster, PlayStation Network.

What were the problems with it?

It stopped mounting after a few months, so I paid to ship it back for repair. Seemed fine, but when I went to use it again a month later, it was failing to mount again. I called G-Tech, and they said it was repaired with a faulty part, which he said was a widespread problem. He said he'd send me an email to get it repaired again, but I never received it. Still trying to resolve the issue.

The irony, of course, is that I invested in G-Tech for the peace of mind of reliability. Needless to say, even if they do repair it again, I'll never be able to trust it. :(

Other than that, I certainly loved the design, external durability, and quietness of the drive. The power cord plugged into the drive very loosely, but the other connections were better.

I really do hope you get to enjoy your drives! Glad to hear most of the reviews were positive.

Thanks Perrumpo. Good luck getting your drive issue resolved. Like you, I chose these drives for their reported reliability.
