I had my resume prepared to submit for that position, but after reading some experiences by previous rep's, I decided it was not worth an "almost" free computer for the hassle. Plus, there were very few places suitable for the types of workshops I had in mind.I just became an Apple Campus Rep, so I got this MBP almost for free, also an iPod Touch
Alas I no longer live on-campus, so it would be even more difficult to do now.
I'm not questioning the credibility of your sources but as a former Campus Rep I can pledge that the program was definitely worth it.
FWIW: in regards to the "almost" free computer, you will have to pay tax on the computer once the program is finished.

Nice! Is Salvation good? I have only seen up till "Rise of the machines", and havn't seen the TV show. Is that movie a natural progression of the films? The commercials looked freaking sweet!
I enjoyed it at the cinema and would say, to me, it feels like a good progression from the other films. Its more action than brains but an enjoyable watch nevertheless.
so do you get paid to be a campus rep? and why would you have to pay tax on a borrowed item? Just wondering, I was thinking about applying.
Cool. Yah I remember the commercial with the bridge scene. Loved it. I will go buy this soon. I don't usually rent blu rays as you can own it for 10 bucks more usually : ) Hollywood Video rents em for around eight bucks here. So I will just snag it at walmart. I liked part 3, so I am looking forward to this one!
I really enjoyed it. As for progression from the other movies, Terminator Salvation is actually a prequel to the first Terminator movie. Watch it and you'll realize that it takes place in the future before the future of the first Terminator and not the future after Rise of the Machines. Surprisingly, the 4 movies and the TV show all fit together very well. Salvation is my 2nd favorite Terminator movie....next to Judgement Day.

Hahah... good to hear. She should be fine, then. My mum's only 50 and is on her iMac all day every day, so she isn't toooo bad with tech stuff.
But don't ask me why she'd rather watch films on the 27" tube tv as opposed to the gorgeous display on her 24" iMac
