Shun Ken Onion 3-piece set. Saw them on sale for cheap!

So curious about those but I am opting not to buy something like that until I get a proper kitchen with a proper cutting board. Using expensive knives on crappy cutting boards is criminal.

If you love to cook, then "proper" knives are a must... I use to think cheapo knives were fine, then got Cutco knives, which I thought were the best ever, until I started handling Wustoffs, Globals, & Shuns. It made Cutco feel like a toy. I can go all surgical with these knives. I bought these Shuns because I already own other knives in the same set and since they were on sale, I had to buy them since they rarely go on sale. All you need is a nice large wooden cutting board for greens, and plastic-type for meats and you are set. They dont cost too much money from Kitchen Supply stores.

Came in the mail today :D The aforementioned 17"er

Obviously you're not waiting for Arrandale. A new MacBook Pro always brings a smile to my face. :) Enjoy!

My understanding is that using a plastic-type cutting board for meats is outdated thinking and that wood is fine for both as long as you keep the meats and vegetables separate. Mrs. DewGuy uses a wood cutting board for both, just keeps one side for meat and the other for vegetables. She says that the plastic type dull the knives more than the wood. Plus, the wood cutting boards can be sanded and oiled to bring them back to new from time-to-time, whereas the plastic pretty much gets trashed. YMMV.

Update: Here's a link to a study on the topic: PLASTIC AND WOODEN CUTTING BOARDS

Bam! Finishing up setting it up! :p

Couldn't wait for Arrandale as it was a work purchase - can't complain though, it's "like" getting a free laptop.

I suppose I could have kept asking for extensions, but my current macbook (circa '06) was on it's last legs.

Backups are starting to take too long over USB. FW800-FW400 cable. Next up will be a FW800 enclosure, but this will do for now. Also debating if I need a 7200.4 Momentus 500GB or just want it.

^^I want it therefore I need it =).

I am probably going to pick one up soon to put in the macbook pro. I love my computer - matte screen, ATI graphics 4gb ram...now all I need is snow leopard and a 500gb 7200 drive and I have a perfect machine.

The Kindle 2 and the yuin pk2 are in the mail today =). Now got to test the kindle 2 if I like it more than the kindle 1.

Just received my Dell Mini 10v in the mail last night, which I promptly Hackintoshed. The process is stupid simple, and everything ran right out of the box.

I am probably going to sell it though. I just wanted to buy it to-- try OS X on a Hackintosh. Now that I have contented my heart, I have no need for it. :p

Sent from my Dell Mini 10v ;)

I stopped at my local military surplus store and found the one I have been looking for for months. Never thought I would have found it there. Of course it not leather, I was looking for a canvas like material in an olive green and that is exactly what I found.

Very similar to this, for $20. LINK

I had found the same type of military surplus canvas messenger bag at one of those mall kiosks that you never stop at. Even though they're cheap, it's been durable. I didn't want leather.
