Having seen his other works Buffy, Angel, and Firefly; I thought I would buy this. Just arrived via Amazon

That is my favorite television show ever! Interesting plot arch that lasted for both seasons. Such a shame they canceled it, but at least they had enough notice to wrap it up nicely. It did, however, teach me to never get into a show on FOX.

How much did this receiver cost? Had to cost a pretty penny. I just got my new tv, and now I'm looking and a receiver and speakers to complete everything, but don't want to go to crazy in spending.

It was 1399 at NewEgg but came with a $500 promo card good for a year. NewEgg credit is like cash to me.

As for the people wondering why 8 HDMI. I will use it as a switch when it's off. I have PS3, Xbox 360, Uverse receiver, HTPC, and I'm sure I'll add more. I would rather have too many than not enough. I'll have 3 spare in the back plus one in the front for portables.

I think you're seveerreely underestimating how hard it is to get a residency interview anywhere, for anything, whether surgery, dental, pharm, etc.

Congrats peapody, and good luck! :D

My most recent and expensive shopping spree.
Adobe design Premium CS5 for school;
4GB DDR3 Crucial 204Pin DIMM for Thinkpad, bumping it up to 6GB of DDR3. (That's not it in the package, it's in my laptop, that's the original 2GB DIMM. ) and Age Of Empires Collectors Edition. I saw it in a store and couldn't say no. :)
Grand total about $500. :) Goodbye rest of financial Aid.

Actually, everything you just said about HDMI switches is inaccurate. Obviously it's preferable to have enough HDMI ports on your receiver, but a switch is a great remedy if you don't. They're cheap, super tiny, and they do not require a remote or power source. :)

Tiny is still another box ;) I'd also not like to rely on the switch to decide what input I want to see - I frequently have two input devices on at one time, so need some way of telling the switch which I want...

No power source? Oh good, things have moved on a little then...

Just got a invited to interview for a residency at Johns Hopkins =), so had to change my flight to come back home a few days early!!

Awesome! I'm in the middle of interviews for entry into the graduate medical training in the UK. Best of luck.

Hey, I'm thinking of getting these headphones. Do you recommend them? What is the noise isolation like?

Loving them. Hardly any sound leakage, and the noise cancellation is top notch - when I'm listening I can hardly hear anything around me. Certainly not enough to intrude. The fact that they have iPhone controls as well is just the icing on the cake. Definitely recommended.

I'm not the OP but I picked up a pair of these while at CES a couple weeks ago after seeing them at their booth and love them. Great noise isolation on the plane without the pain of having to recharge a battery like on the noise canceling ones.

Picked this guy up on Craigslist for $50.

Powerbook G4 12" - 1.33GHz/768MB RAM/60GB HDD

I've grabbed a 1GB stick of RAM to max it out. Some wear on it but all in all it's a great pickup! I'm excited since I was pretty close to buying another Powerbook for quite a bit more.

Every time I got to Ikea I buy more Lingonberry jam and the packets that you add cream to and magically get the sauce. It's awesome.

Is the package stuff still good or is that what they serve in store? I buy the jam when I do go, though I found it locally in a store branded under some other name. I love their juice as well.

In the UK at least it's either the same, or very similar, to what they sell in the store restaurant. The only difference is probably due to the cream used to make it up.

$3.00 shipped per brick.

From where? The same place as the image URL?

Yes!
Ikea is awesome.

Those meatballs just don't look appetizing to me.

I did, however, enjoy one of their hot cinnamon rolls on the weekend:

And I bought some stuff, including:

This small desk for the nook in my living room, the perfect size for my MBP. I will be buying a new external monitor and some sort of docking station for the MBP in the next while.

I also picked up this cool little penis cactus there:
