Legally it is not a binding contract until they actually ship the item. Your order form is just an offer that you will buy at that price. It happened 6 months ago with Mac Minis on Canada's Amazon site and most if not all only got their money back.

Knowing absolutely nothing about the console gaming world, what do people think of this particular model? Besides the fact that it (only?) has a 60GB HD, is there anything else different from this one and newer models?

They sell for like $800 on ebay because they are backwards compatible.

If you were charged shipping, then it was from target, in which case it's a controller thingy, not a PS3.

Yeah, because they're all from Target and not Amazon. So Amazon isn't going to give hoot about fulfilling it. The Target website clearly describes it as a controller. Just a mix up. They don't even make that model PS3 any more. Would've been cool though!
